Well, Microsoft charge for Office, so they can't really give it away for free online.
Hang on! I thought of a way that they can do it! Let's say that they do it, but you need to have bought Office. They should make us activate Office online with a Windows Live ID. Then, if we upload an Office document to out Office Live Workspace, we can edit it, because they know we've got Office, so we're not stealing software! It'd be an added bonus to the sky high prices they charge!

How does Google Docs compare to that? Has anyone tried both?
Anyways, this is still extremely convinient just for storage and group work. I wish they had this kind of technology when I was in school. -

I'd prefer to use Google Docs than Office Live. Office live is better because it can share the whole folder. But you need MS Office to edit the documents. Posted here

- Been working with this for the last few hours. I like the idea of being able to pull the docs right from the web, edit them, and then re-save it.
What does this mean for skydrive? Plus I think I have found a way (finally) to sync with my outlook calendars between home/work/laptop.

- If I have 2007 office at home & the school has 2003 can this automatically convert the file when I try and open a 2007 file at school?
If so this would very useful indeed.
(I know there's a plug-in but my school doesn't want/can't install it!

- is it just me or any of you having trouble uploading documents in firefox on leopard? it opens the browsing window but then nothing happens after i select the file. working fine under vista though (obviously).

- It's not just you! I tried that with Tiger and ended up with the same problem. Then again, that's why it's still in beta, but once all of these bugs get worked out, this tool would be a must-have.
Office Live Workspace is now available worldwide in English. People can sign up for free at http://workspace.officelive.com and will be granted immediate access to the service. Microsoft is also unveiling a number of new Office Live Workspace features, such as an activity panel, notifications, direct links and multifile upload.
