- The download link should be Silverlight 2 Beta, not Beta 2.. Just a little confusing, thought there was a new beta version

Linux version: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moonlight_%28runtime%29
Not sure about a WM version yet, but I'm sure it's coming. -

- As for Windows Mobile:

(you'll find a prototype demo there from the MIX 07 show ~14 minutes into the video, so yes, it's in the works and planned)

- WTF? Silverlight 2 Beta 1 does not work on PPC-based Macs?
That doesn't make any sense at all.

- Silverlight just came out late last year. Give it some time. MS has said that they are working with Novell to get a Linux runtime completed. I'm sure they'll get a universal binary out for Mac, too. It wouldn't make sense for them not to do so. MS has also said that they are waiting on the iPhone SDK to see what it will take to port to iPhone, so I'm certain that they are looking at mobile devices such as Win Mobile as well.

- Ohh, I was just going to submit a witty comment here saying that "Meanwhile, Silverlight 1.1 is still in alpha!" but now I see that Silverlight 1.1 was actually renamed to Siverlight 2. And it's therefore no longer in alpha.
So this is still the first version of Silverlight to offer .NET language support, just having moved out of alpha now.

Implemented as a plug-in, Silverlight is Microsoft's horse in the industry's race to provide the most eye-catching visual effects; it competes with Adobe's Flash Player and related technologies. Silverlight is cross-browser, cross-platform, and cross-device, Microsoft said. Version 2 features support for managed code and developing with multiple languages, including IronRuby, IronPython, javascript, and .Net. The beta is available from Microsoft's Web site.
