Microsoft and Yahoo met on Monday to discuss Microsoft's takeover offer for the Internet company, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The meeting was said to be the first since Microsoft made its unsolicited offer for Yahoo, worth nearly $42 billion, on January 31. Yahoo rejected the offer as inadequate last month. The session was intended to allow Microsoft to present its vision of a combined company, and Yahoo executives mostly listened, the Journal quoted one of the sources as saying.

It's going to be interesting to see MS throw away $42B on a dud. Everyone Yahoo asked to bail them out declined.

Sales numbers for OneCare are different but NDP thinks it understands why.

Live Search is another story all together. Its getting clobbered by Google. If I remember correctly, the same team that designed the XBox also designed Zune. MS came from the position of 0% with the XBox and grabbed a significant share of the market. They made another big gain on the iPod with the second gen Zune but it will be more difficult because people generally do not want to deal with switching music from one platform to another. Just too much of a bother.
Are you serious?
Yes those numbers are old, and given the date the articles were posted it would be safe to assume that sales have increased. I'll do more research to see if I can find updated info on sales of the most populer sellers.
As for this yahoo/ms deal, ide say it enevitable.
thanks
Yup, that's about right.
But i think it will be "Microsoft Yahoo"
That has a nice ring to it.
hehe,loved that one
Look at you now Yahoo!.. Pittiful! But i'm glad Microsoft is in talks about a merger
How does this benefit you?
i.e. you wont have to type microsoft.yahoo.com (or microhoo.com).. you'll still goto yahoo.com scroll to the bottom of the page and see the Microsoft logo and that's about it.
lol Microhoo ! This merger might help MS compete better with Google on search and ad network but it all depends on how they go about utilizing what yahoo brings to the table.
