The notorious spammer authorities dubbed "the King of Spam" is facing a possible 26-year jail sentence after pleading guilty in Seattle on Friday to charges of fraud and tax evasion. Robert Soloway, 28, had already been found guilty of spam charges in several civil cases -- Microsoft won a $7.8 million judgment against him in 2005 -- but had avoided paying fines in those cases. The criminal charges to which he pleaded guilty on Friday followed his arrest in 2007 by the U.S. Justice Department.
He was arrested on criminal charges brought by the U.S. Department of Justice in May 2007. In a 2005 discussion group post, Soloway bragged , "I've been sued for hundreds of millions of dollars and have had my business running for over 10 years without ever paying a dime regardless to the outcome of any lawsuits."

Yea, kravex, unless you want to join that moron
I hate spam.
in the justice system, different "scores" are applied according to the severity of the crime. the higher the "score", the more jail time the person gets. usually, murderers and rapists are charged with only one count of those crimes (plus sometimes others associated with that type of crime, i.e. assault with a deadly weapon). however, this man is being brought to court for crimes stemming back years and taking into account the statement he made in the article, there was likely a lot of them. he could be looking at possibly hundreds of fraud charges. so let's look at that in a "formula":
(# of charges) * (sum of "scores" combined) = judgement
so you can see that while murder and rape are obviously infinitely more serious than any financial crimes, doing a multitude of the latter adds up in the courts.

Even so, with overcrowding and a lack of finances in the prison systems... seems like his cell could be used for someone more deserving. House arrest and community service would suffice IMO.

To kill a child : 20 years.
To spam : 26 years.
And sooner :to drop trash in street :30 years.
And I agree this is crazy. Its the same sentence that someone who has killed has. This is **** ing nuts. How many years a corrupt senator would have then?.
How hard is it to understand that when you break the law (and we all know a vast majority of file sharing is illegal file sharing), you face consequences. It's about time these laws started getting enforced.
