Thanks Imran Hussain for posting this in our Back Page News section of the forums.
Internal Microsoft videos just aren’t what they used to be with Utopian technologies and eye-candy special effects. This internal promotional video for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 was apparently ‘leaked‘ by an unflattered employee who bluntly called it “stupid”. For those who doubt it’s authenticity (and I don’t blame you), Kevin Turner, Microsoft’s Chief Operating Officer makes a pretty short but lasting appearance. (via Channel9 forums).

Not sure if it was supposed to be a joke or serious.
Still, it's good that they can poke some fun at themselves
I stand corrected. I just watch it on YouTube, and I didn't think anything could beat the SP1 song!
If they'd spend all the money on ads, how would they use that money to compete with every company in the world
. . Oh, GOD!!!
(buries head in hands and weeps)
::yawn::
Moving along...
More proof MS is clueless when ti comes to design. And marketing. Even if for internal use only.
But they sure have licensing down to a fine art. That's for sure.
Marketing genius...
Marketing genius...
It's front page because of its
geniusgayness. It's not even clever. It's like when Mitt Romney was trying to connect with the African American community. It was laughable.
I really don't think it'll help sell Vista.
MS' licensing scheme helps sell Vista. Which is also responsible for Vista's current state.
The bottom line is it got people talking about Vista. It cost them virtually nothing. That's not bad marketing. And it was never intended for public release. The old saying "there's no such thing as bad publicity" isn't without merit. At least Microsoft doesn't spend all their marketing dollars talking about the competition.
As for the homosexuality, you will need to point it out to the rest of us. It's obviously something only you have seen in this video, for whatever reason.
And please do a little reading before you post - Microsoft's licensing has little to do with Vista's sales.
Marketing genius...
When you've got nothing to market, you don't want to show baseless, poorly made propaganda off to the world. People are going to see this and think even worse of Microsoft. Microsoft is much better off keeping quiet instead of trying to spin their mistakes. This is like something Hillary Clinton would do.
I bet you like how they tried to sneak in the "Vista is ok now that SP1 is out" thing in there, eh? But you do really think anyone in the business world is naive enough to believe that without first doing their own tests?

*sigh* It's an internal video. It wasn't intended to be leaked. There's nothing wrong with Hillary Clinton that isn't wrong with the rest of the candidates. There's nothing wrong with Vista. And pay attention. The video says that enterprises can adopt it now that it's hit SP1. It's a tongue-in-cheek reference to the superstition of waiting for a service pack before corporations adopt a new OS, but apparently you don't "get" subtlety.
It seemed more like some sort of punishment.
....
OMG.
anyway is Neowin now MS only news ? like 75% of main news is about MS
Now, what on Earth would the "win" in NeoWIN possibly mean?
Hhhmmm.......

some dude named "neo" won something?
If the singer is a real singer, he should invest in some singing lessons, as he is poor.
You know what? It's nice to see that Microsoft doesn't take themselves too seriously. Of course this is lame but it's geared for an internal audience only. It's a joke, Comprendez? A JOKE. If you can't laugh at it I'd really hate to see what your day to day life is like, especially at work.
It's INTENTIONALLY lame.
It's a self-parody, ****take, inside joke or whatever you want to label it, "The guys" probably decided to make it for a laugh and it then got circulated via internal email. It was never intended for public release.
The only reason we're having this discussion is because some uptight git didn't find it funny. (Probably because they took it at face value like most of the people in these comments have.)

It is an internal joke. I don't see any comments here that suggests that anyone does not get that it was meant as a joke.

Exactly. I get that it's a joke. My point was that it's just a really bad one.

I edit for a living and im shocked that they got someone to edit this POS...

Paid?? It's just an internal promo. It wasn't even released or anything like that. Maybe they made it for fun. It's weird how people are accusing of the Sales team to suck based on this internal video. Had it been Apple, all of you would have been applauding their sense of humor! Just plain shocking!
Does it matter; it's still cringeworthy crap no matter what! You, I suppose are the only genius that gets what it may or may not appear to be??
Found this on slashdot in someone's signature:
"Can god code something so unusable even he can't use it? No, but I can and so can you: http://www.microsoft.com/careers"

--edit: Also, to those harping on about it being a joke: There can be stupid jokes. That video is the dictionary definition of one.
It's targeted at the corporate sales team. It was probably shown as a joke before a big meeting.
