- Then add in 4-6 more weeks to get enough stock so it's actually available means early 2009. AMD is a full year behind Intel on nm, and years behind them on performance. I'm sure like all of AMD's releases lately, this will be another "too little, too late" scenario.
Heck imho, the only reason AMD is moving to tri-core was because it's the only way they can get their CPUs to equal the performance of Intel's Core 2 Duo.

- Doesn't look good for AMD. Intel is threatening to release Nehalem by then.

- Exactly, and lately Intel has been doing a great job keeping to their release dates, while AMD has been slipping a little bit now and then. AMD doesn't even get a change to leapfrog, the same time they are releasing their new product, Intel has something even better. Not to mention AMD's newest offering is never better than Intel's previous offering, so AMD is constantly 2 steps behind.

Apparently AMD will release its first 45nm chips this year. With higher frequencies than with the curerently available 65nm Agena Phenom designs.
The two chips to become available will feature frequencies between 2.5 Ghz – 2.8 Ghz beating their current x4 9850 running at 2.5 Ghz.
Also in the new line-up is a Phenom X3 8850 running at 2.2 Ghz. A low power Phenom X4 9350e and Phenom X3 8450e
Sources have told DigiTimes that barring any major issues they should hit the market by the end of November.
