- Just so you guys know, the binaries are still available, it's just that Microsoft will be delaying Windows Update and publishing of SP3 through their download site.
Install only if you are not affected by the issues mentioned in the news post. We have a news post here with direct links to the files.

- I find it funny that a company w/ thousands of workers has this type of issues. I mean, couldn't they iron out the bugs before the service pack RTMed?

- It's difficult to understand how, after all this time, they can still can't get it right.
Amazing

- Because it's impossible to test every single configuration out there.
Nothing is 100% perfect.
We have 2,500 machines in our environment and when we roll out updates to our software, we occasionally hit little snags.
I can only imagine how hard it is when you roll out your software to millions of computers. -

You would think they would check it with their own products....wouldn't ya? -

You're not getting the point
How can they possibly test every single computer configuration that's out there? There's going to be bugs in any kind of software released by any company.
And they actually caught the bug and are taking care of it pretty quick. I don't see any problem with this.

- I don't know what is the big fat deal here... Most of the people do not use the Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System, talking about home users like me. I installed SP3 without problems, everything works great and noticed that it starts/shutdown faster. If they can not handle their work propertly they better start to search for a different job. They are fixing this problem so quickly because it is a "Compatibility issue" with their own software, wondering if they would do it with another companie's software too...
BTW even though Microsoft said this would be the last SP I can see in the future a SP4, just because of recent news; and not so far a patch to be released next month. Don't you think?
Cheers

- You crazy? It's only one obscure product. They are not going to produce a new service pack just because of this. The product will be patched, obviously, no need to produce another service pack, just roll it out in the same way as the Vista one has (but obviously over a shorter timeframe).

- It's hilarious to me how people can get all smug about something like this, download the damn thing elsewhere, report performance benefits, and still bite the hand that feeds. Some people are never satisfied. If you're not experiencing any issues, why the poop would you complain? Be happy you DON'T have problems.

- Must still be delayed although there is another newer article here on Neowin that says it's released.
What gives?

To help protect customers, we plan to put filtering in place shortly to prevent Windows Update from offering both service packs to systems running Microsoft Dynamics RMS. Once filtering is in place, we expect to release Windows XP SP3 to the web. We are also testing a fix, and will make it available once that process is complete. Once they have installed the fix, Microsoft Dynamics RMS customers should be able to run both service packs.
Until then, we advise Microsoft Dynamics RMS customers to not install either service pack. Microsoft Dynamics RMS customers running Windows XP SP3 or Windows Vista SP1 should contact Microsoft Customer Support Services for additional information.
