Dell, the world's No. 2 personal computer maker, said on Friday sales outside the United States were growing much faster than its home market and could account for two-thirds of total revenues within five years. According to Steve Felice, president of Dell Asia-Pacific and Japan, revenue from international regions topped U.S. revenue for the first time, with Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC) leading the way at 73% shipment growth in Q1; at the rate things are going "two-thirds could come in five years," said Felice, referring to sales from outside the U.S. The comments came after Dell posted higher-than-expected quarterly profit, driven by cost cuts and strong demand from consumers and foreign markets.

You know how hard is to buy a dell pc here in Mexico? They only have one model since christmas and only sold in Wal-Mart. And you call the 800 number and they ask "if you are interested in buying 100 units hold in the line and a salesman will talk to you, if you wanna buy less than 100 press one" and send you back to the beginning. HP - One of the key reasons Michael Dell came back as CEO.

Well I guess if they are going to focus on more sales overseas than here in the states I guess this means that the bulk of their customers will finally be able to understand what their tech support is saying over the phone.

I have bought Dell servers for the last 9 years. There price / specification of their servers is terrific, but their after sales help-desks has it's ups and downs, but they have always come through in the end.

Makes sense, sales on everything outside the USA especially in latin America are booming while here at home things are stagnant. IT products forget it, our company has also started to shift focus on international customers as they spend more, give less headache and the money comes in first. It's pretty sad state all around for the USA, but we put ourselves in this situation.
