Every time some one visits and watches a Microsoft commercial, Microsoft Australia will donate $ 1 to Smith Family Learning For Life Program. It is a Foundation which helps disabled kids with their education.

So all you are in need to do is visit Help Aussie Kids Get A Great Education web site and watch the 35 secs introduction video, in which a 9 year old Aussie kid speaks about Office 2007, and Microsoft will donate $ 1 to the Foundation. Requires Silverlight.

Great campaign indeed but it seems almost too good to be true! $1 for every visitor? The internet is a big place, and something like this is going to get LOTS of exposure, resulting in LOTS of views... They should at least limit it to Australian visitors?

I'm sure that Microsoft would be willing to pay $1 to have Silverlight installed on your PC, even if there wasn't a charity affiliation. Unfortunately, I don't consider the charity to be Microsoft's primary goal in this scheme.

Nothing that gives for "free" is ever a companies primary goal... anytime you hear a company say their name with a donation it's obviously advertising.... unless they make an anonymous donation with no related advertising campaign tied to it, it has an another motive behind it

Of course, there's nothing wrong with that. It's good for the people receiving the donation, helps the company's image, and in this case, will help push the Silverlight platform (Which I rather like.)

Probably one of Bill Gate's projects, as he transitions into full-time philanthropy.

It may just be me, but running IE7, and not visiting neowin in like 2 days I had no idea about this....

That being said, I clicked the link and figured hey lets help an aussie kid, but it told me I was ineligable because I already viewed the movie.

So either someone else that lives in this house and shares this Road Runner connection (no, there isnt, and I have had this same IP for months now, and I live alone)... Or there is something a little fishy here.

The site probably detected your ISP's transparent proxy server.

Many broadband ISPs use that.
