Intel is planning to launch a Core 2 Quad Q8000 CPU series, offering entry-level prices to counter AMD's triple-core CPUs in the mainstream market, according to sources at motherboard makers.

Intel will launch the Core 2 Quad Q8200 in the third quarter this year, supporting FSB up to 1333MHz, L2 cache of 4MB and a core frequency of 2.33GHz. Pricing will be set around US$203 in thousand-unit quantities

These are going to be around the same price of AMD's Triple Core CPUs.

Intel is simply not letting up. This is madness!

It's not that great compared to existing quad-cores, unless it overclocks much better than the q6600.

You can get the Q6600 from the Egg for $209. Wake me when the Q9450 is 200 bucks.

the only thing that sucks about this is, if AMD does not come up with something that would actually be comptetition, they might just start to loose too much and falter. This would pretty much suck because then intel would just be able to set prices to anything because nothing else would compete with them. At it stands now is nice to have intel keep dropping prices on these procs, but hopefully AMD can come out swinging soon. I like both companies, but i pretty much like more the company that can give me a great product for a good price, and as it stands now intel is just whooping ass like mad...
