Following the recent launch of the ATI Radeon HD 4850 and 4870 GPUs, AMD plans to introduce the high-end dual-GPU HD 4870 X2 by the end of July, according to sources at graphics card vendors.Evaluation samples are schedule to be available in mid-July, and AMD will begin shipping reference design boards with 2GB GDDR5 memory at the end of the month, the sources detailed.
















nVidia will have to be out with the 280 X2 very quick at a nice price...

for a reminder some of us have 4 and even 8gb ram
4870X2 is a winner for me i am impressed
and there is no way that nvidia to make 280 X2
even if they did it it will be DIA ! with the current nvidia huge chip arch
I hope they make a 1gb GDDR5 version... 2gb is just waste of cash

Keep in mind that the 4870 X2 boasts 2GB of GDDR5 memory whereas the GTX 280 only has 1GB of GDDR3 memory.
