Acer Taiwan president Scott Lin is confident the company's Aspire one will enjoy a strong sales record despite recent news that Asustek Computer's Eee PC sales failed to meet expectations sparking concerns for the netbook market.

Asustek announced that it shipped 1.7 million of Eee PCs in the first half of 2008, 300,000 less than its original forecast. Some industry watchers explained the shortfall to delayed shipments due to the shortage of Intel Atom processors. Despite the present component shortages and gloomy economy, Asustek still aims to ship five million Eee PCs in 2008, according to company sources.

i think it's an issue of then not being in stock and of people waiting for the atom version and the new ten inch rather than people not wanting it.

i know i'll be getting the eee pc 1000 as soon as it's actually in stock anywhere in the UK

This is about the Eee Desktop PC, not the laptop.

I think Asus is not having any problem selling the Eee laptop.

um no, the desktop one (asus eee box ) isn't even on sale yet.

neowin just rarely uses the correct image for ANY news article. it's really just there to make it look pretty rather than actually be informative.
