Mobile network O2 is at the centre of a privacy storm after it was revealed that photos sent by MMS could be found with a simple Google search.Recipients of MMS photos who don't own a compatible phone - such as the new iPhone 3G - would instead be sent a URL from which they could view the O2 customer's image.
However, it was discovered late last week that the library of photos could be accessed using a simple InURL search on Google.
"As these web pages were wide open to the internet, not requiring any authentication a very small handful were indexed by Google," writes David Cawley on the MailChannels Anti-Spam Blog, who discovered the flaw.

LOL, where have you been last 18 months? MMS isn't a "modern" feature. MMS only exists for the networks to make money off its users, email is free. And FWIW, the 3G chip inside the iPhone3G does support 3.5G. It supports data download upto 7.2Mbps but hardly any networks support this speed anyway and 3.5G is probably firmware disabled for moment anyway.
( well maybe not in every country ) certainly in the UK you are NOT charged data usage for mms. Its handy because not everyone has an e-mail address they can set up on their phone or even wants one. And with most cameras now hitting 4 or 5 megapixel its a handy way of sending a quick photo with zero setup and without wasting unnecessary space storing a 1-2meg photo.
The price is something to be desired yes but a lot of networks simply take x amounts of texts ( 02 and Vodafone I beleave) hell I pay 20p and because its allowanceable. I don't pay sod all for them. compared with the hassle of sending an e-mail which is going to use a stupidly large amount of data anyway and reliant on the other person actually HAVING an e-mail address and having to type it all in its great. If I want to send e-mail I can send e-mail too.
Its just Apple being arsey and saying "Well just because Americans don't use were not include it anywhere" which is extremely short sighted when most mobile manufacturers look to europe for the mobile market because they have always been years ahead.

Well put. I agree with everything you said there.
