When we reported about the leak of a BuckCherry track last week, and specifically the band’s response to it, we hinted that this could be a covert form of self-promotion. Indeed, after a few days of research we found out that the track wasn’t leaked by pirates, but by Josh Klemme, the manager of the band. When BuckCherry found out that their latest single had leaked on BitTorrent, they didn’t try to cover this up, or take the file down. No, instead, they issued a press release, where they stated: “Honestly, we hate it when this s*** happens, because we want our FANS to have any new songs first.”
This is strange to say the least. Not only because their label, Atlantic Records, is known to release (and spam) tracks for free on BitTorrent sites, but also because the press release was more about promoting the band than the actual leak. Without any hard evidence, we suggested that this leak may have been set up to get some free promotion and publicity, which BuckCherry seems to need.

Who else buy Buck Cherry fans (if any) would download it first anyways?
Indeed. And if non-fans downloaded it, and liked what they heard, then this POS band's fanbase has increased.
If they want cash, go on tour...
hahaha
I think he was deliberately doing it in a style similar to Slashdot tags, and personally I didn't find his post all that hard to read. Unlike yours.

+1 Informative
But seriously... how are we supposed to take RIAA or anti-torrent measures seriously when the bands and labels themselves are releasing their own music there?

..unfortunately the lawyer didnt do anything illegal sharing the file on the web. It is illegal when the material is copyrighted and the copyright holder does not allow it to be shared, it is legal otherwise. Since it looks like this is a 'smart' move of both the lawyer and band together..
Did the band's manager not tell the band members he was doing this? Or did he think they'd get away with it? Why else would one of the band blame the leak on pirates? Either way, glad to see they're being called out for their silly PR stunt.
Ahahahahahaha
I've also never heard of Buckcherry, but they seem like corporate muppets to me! Don't get me wrong, nothing against corporate driven music, per se. But can't stand suits when they pretend to be "Down with the kids!"
The new track is called "Too Drunk To F&ck"
Hilarious lyrics
remind me not to bother
