M1 dogfood build review and screenshots

Looks like its open-season on Wave 3 now, with Inky over at Mess.be getting his hands on the Wave 3 Milestone 1 installer for Windows Live Messenger. While Inky may be obsessed with version numbers and about screens, we’re more interested in what’s going on in terms of new integration across services. Its now been 9 months since the launch of Messenger 8.5, Mail and Photo Gallery as part of Wave 2, but as this is only a first milestone, there’ll be other internal updates before a version gets released to the public. That said, there’s still some positive signs that the eventual Messenger v9 release is going to be good.

Hope it's better than 8.5 was, it was more slow and bloated than previous releases.

still not liking it, why can't they make it sweet like Yahoo Vista Messenger?

WLM may not be good, but I'm sorry but Yahoo Messenger really is even more horrendous, try something more lightweight like Pidgin, etc.

Nice but i would like to see new functionality!

- Drag and drop contacts to desktop & interact with them, being able to save space without using the main Window.
- Less memory usage
- Ability to dock to Web browsers and office products, interoperability and fusion between apps.
- No more ads
- Ability to customize the contact list background
- Ablility to be skinned.
- WPF fully implemented
- Ability to select wich contacts may see you online, when "Appear offline"

I've never seen it use more than about 25MB RAM, mostly about 6-10MB. Doesn't sound like much to me.

Messenger Plus! Live and you're done

Dude.. I'm sick of ppl asking for 'no ads'... that's how companies pay for these free apps. and the Windows Live team has been VERY generous by putting only that tiny text ad at the bottom of the window instead of a banner. They also give you an option to turn off those ad tabs in the main window.

As for seeing you while you appear offline... no one should be able see you unless it's hacked somehow... so why would they need to build that?

Ya, I need it though it's parlt possible with "Block Contact". however you can't receive msg frm clock contact

Try A-Patcher or buy Windows Live Permium Account

Looking spiffy!!

Note that this is NOT the final design.. there's gonna be more changes.. this is just the interface for the internal testers. But so far, lookin good!

It's a lot more lightweight than the previous versions apparently, and you can see in the conversation window as well, that they're trying to take up less screen space too.. which is a great thing.

There's gonna be lots of integration with other Windows Live services as well, which will be awesome to see and have everything all stream-lined.
