The man who posted YouTube video footage of himself doing 130mph on a motorbike has been hit with a three month prison sentence.

28-year-old Sandor Ferenci posted footage of himself doing wheelies and skids as well as getting up to speeds almost double the national speed limit.

But his bravado backfired when he was spotted by a local in Banbury Oxfordshire and, on being contacted by police, apparently asked 'is this about the YouTube video?'

The YouTube footage of his antics was played to the court and Judge Terence Maher told Ferenci he was responsible for "lunatic and grossly irresponsible manoeuvres at considerable speed."

Something like that happened in Rocky. Someone did about 150kmh up the Mt Archer range and posted it on YouTube. Haven't heard if he was caught.

What an idiot.

What was he expecting to happen...

Posting videos of yourself committing a crime is just dumb in the first place.

three months in 'PRISON' ? , that sounds extreme for something like that.

people who are against that stuff dont know what 'fun' is... it's not the 'showing off' stuff thats fun, it's the pure rush you get when going FAST on a motorcycle.

and look at it this way... your on a bike and if you crash it's your @$$ on the line not someone else cause it aint like a motorcycle is THAT dangerous to people driving cars in general.... but me personally when i go fast on a motorcycle i usually do it out in the country where there's a minimum amount of people this way if i crash etc no one else will be hurt... and i use a little common sense to... i only try going really fast when there's open fields around so you can clearly see if there's anything that could potentially make me crash etc etc.

whoever snitched on him can suck my... well you know ... ill bet the guy who told, tells on everyone for petty crap to... i cant stand those types of people.

but i guess the guy must be fairly stupid doing that in the sense of posting a video of it... especially if there's anything in the video that can specifically identify him in the video, which apparently there must have been if the video was used against him in court.

bottom line... 3 months in 'prison' is extreme for something like that! , now he's probably gonna take it in the @$$ and be scarred for life ... cause if this was a first offense sorta thing i think a fine would have been good enough with probation or something.... probably just another judge or cops etc going on a power trip cause they 'dont like' the person.

p.s. before anyone says... 'ill bet this guy had been screwed over by cops for speeding before' ... my reply, no i have not (they actually let me off the hook once) but they screw over people in general for petty crap (i.e. screwed my sister for 'loud STOCK car stereo' , clearly a power trip cause it's STOCK for christ sake! ) and write tickets WAY to often for minor crap instead of out catching the 'real' criminals.... cause to me general speeding tickets are just petty crap and a way for the government to make more money that they dont need.... the only time i could understand a ticket in general is if someone is really doing something very stupid like say going through a 25mph (speed limit) city at something like 45-50mph or where there's lots of people in a area like that... i think you get the idea.... cause doing 5-7mph over the speed limit is pretty much common as ALOT of people do that (cause not matter what the posted speed is people in general will at least go over it a little)... i think in general they should not screw you until your at least 11mph+ over the speed limit (i.e. unless what your doing might be seriously endangering other people) .. but in general i figure if your speeding in a area where the people are at a bare bare minimum (i.e. out in the country) they should not give you a ticket at all... cause at the end of the day if no one gets hurt or you aint really endangering other people then it really dont matter if your going 30mph or 150mph+.

It is not extreme. Who gives a **** if it is fun, you may be the sort of person that finds beating up people fun but I won't let you do that.

He could have killed someone or put someone's life in serious danger. Unless you suggest rehabilitation over punishment then this sentence is more than just.

I sort of agree with ThaCrip...

One of my friends fathers was killed a week before Christmas a few years back by someone that was twice over the alcohol limit that failed to stop at a red light...

All he got was a fine and banned from driving while people like this go to Jail . I understand they need to make examples of people like this and there could be other points that need to be considered but still it doesn't seem fair

Technically if he wasn't caught by the law then he shouldn't be thrown in jail for that. Yes it's stupid but the repercussions of checking Youtube for stupid things like this (other than for beatings and other serious things) should not be allowed.

He could have told YouTube to remove the film and then what evidence would they have? What would be next have floating surveillance camera and pinpoint crime and catch ppl in the act?

You must be joking. Evidences are evidences, as long as they're true and within the scope of the crime's statute of limitations. And unlike you, I think that what he did was a serious thing.
He was caught because there was documented evidence and a witness that he did this fellony.

Even if he told YouTube to remove the film, they would still have backups.
YouTube and other similar services are obliged by law (sometimes even in their own internal policy) to retain backups of whatever you submit for a given time. And wouldn't even matter, because the authorities had already an witness, the film and the guy even admitted that it was his film.

What would be next have floating surveillance camera and pinpoint crime and catch ppl in the act?

Apples and oranges. He made his own floating camera, and posted his crime on the Internet.

Wel DUHH!!! He posted a video bragging about his stunts. He did. Him.
What, did you think Google doesn't know who you are when you sign up for a YouTube account?

130mph isn't so fast and well what he did was a cool stuff, can't discribe the feeling of driving at high speed (you just feel like an F-18 pilot at 6g) but showing his face.. damn he was asking to go to jail
#10.1 struct on 21 Oct 2008 - 02:24
I would say 130 isn't that fast on a track but it is for a public road. too many potential obstacles

link to the video anyone?
#11 Akaruz on 21 Oct 2008 - 01:58
it can be extreme and give a rush,

but recording it and posting on a public site its stupid

When I was working as a firefighter, I cleaned up the smeared brains of ignorant asshats like that and their victims. It is very rare that irresponsible behavior like that causes damage ONLY to the stupid one. Usually, it is innocent children and their parents who suffer. Real professionals under controlled circumstances are a different matter. This guy was neither.

If it makes just ONE of you morons think twice before doing something like that, it is worth it. I think he got off easy. A little bit of freedom is nothing compared to someone losing their freaking life. My son drives a bike that is capable of well over 130 MPH, but he is intelligent enough and was raised with enough common sense to know that he should never attempt that.

Have to agree with you. My brother had to clean some of those messes up too as a fireman. A friend not only killed himself, but his girlfriend too. They both got off on the high speeds. He hit some spilled gravel in the road and lost control and they went into a heavy gauge chain link fence they guess at about 140 MPH.

To Gnuman: You have to remember, not everybody on the net is in the US. That dude wasn't, the laws that be where he is could be much different than here.

I'm learning to drive my self and I think 60-70MPH is fast enough for me! on a national speed limit road. These idiots are so dumb though, if they crash it's why my insurance quotes are so dam high, and I'm 21 it truly does suck that these idiots make it expensive for everyone else who is trying to be safe.
