We have all heard of Cyber Bullying where a group of users online would taunt and stalk helpless users until they break down online and even offline but this is a case where it went a bit too far.19 Year Old Abraham K.Biggs was broadcasting live on Justin.TV a popular live video site where he was being cheered on by users of a bodybuilding forum to do outrageous things, the stunt went too far when they saw Abraham take a dose of pills and hours later noticing no activity and had to call the EMT's and Police to the address. Later, a Broward County Examiner, confirmed the death to newteevee.
The video and all details pertaining to the actual incident have been removed and a statement from Justin.tv read "As for the broadcaster incident last night, we don't comment on individual videos, however, our policy prohibits inappropriate content on Justin.tv. We rely on the community to flag videos that they feel are objectionable. Once a video is flagged, it is reviewed and quickly removed from the system if it violates our Terms of Use.".
This isn't the first case either, last year a man from Great Britain hung himself live on video in front of hundreds of viewers and there was even a movie made about a murderer broadcasting murders on live video which was dependent on hits. Writing this article makes me think that we need to find a way to govern this sort of broadcasting so there are not more cases of this sort of activity. Gone of the days where the internet was simple and nice to use.

As members of society it is the duty of the stronger and more intelligent people to protect the weaker ones. Sociopaths like you are the ones who should be cast away.
I meant we need to prevent people from hurting or killing himself or others. We should do what we can to prevent stupid deaths which can be easily prevented. Genius may also sometimes need emotional counseling.

before everyone bashes that statement, keep in mind that while i think that would make the world a better place (at least if everyone agreed with it and felt the way i do) I realize that it would never happen and that people are the way they are.

People will always continue to evolve (Pft Steve Jones), and biological evolution is not a ladder of progression, it is the goalless adaptation to environment.
You're advocating eugenics and flirting with a naturalistic fallacy. It has been attempted in the past and not just by the Nazis. Read an appropriate book on the topic and see how that turned. Eugenics pares down genetic diversity. Poor genetic diversity increases difficulty in survivability (susceptibility to disease, sperm quality, etc). Lets stop pandering to people who require glasses or corrective eye surgery. Without it many of them would be useless and require sustenance. Pandering to their disability only pollutes the gene pool with genes that promote poor eyesight. Ditto to any attempts at finding a cure for cancer. Lets not forget dentistry, without it how many people would die of starvation from the inability to chew food due to agonizingly painful teeth ailments. If people like this did not receive treatment and did not propagate their genes it would promote the genes of those who have intrinsically healthy teeth and gums!

Well done Hitler if more of you think this way then in about 50 years time im sure there will be a new call of duty game in your honour.

Strange, one of my friends just brought up eugenics today and id never heard of it, so its strange that you just mentioned that. That is what i'm getting at, although I realize that its not the way to go - if you did, it would cause a lot of problems/fighting etcetc. Thanks for that comment Googintosh! much more insightful than the comment below yours lol
@syphern - that was a very childish and ill-informed reply.
Read up on eugenics (what it turns out i was referring to). the US practiced it for years from what i can tell. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugenics
I learned something new today...and conversations like these really do help people!

Nice to see Godwin's Law is still alive and well.
cause 'most people' can take cut downs etc etc and deal with it.
although i suppose if your pushed 'to far' then something like this could happen.... but being 'bullied online' i dont think would make any 'normal' person go over the edge to off themselves online.

Surely you mean "Gone are the days . . . "?
When was this?
indeed! the world will be a worse place without him
EH? If that's not sarcasm, you should have been there instead of him.
But some of the replies here are even worse.
I wonder what's the age of the average Neowin poster. With all the fanatics Apple and MS posters around i always suspected it to be low ... but not that low. Anyway kids life will teach you one or two tricks along the road. One is you are not as good and as powerful as you might think. **** happens to everyone and you don't know how you will react when you hit the rock bottom.
I hope when the worst days of your life will come you wont have to deal with people like Cramshanateen.
"...last year a man from Great Britain hung himself live on video in front of hundreds of viewers". It's incorrect to use 'hung' in this context, 'hanged' is the correct word.

We should fight for our species. He was just a guy with some mental problems, and we all have that sometimes.(no offense intended, mental problems could include something as basic as stress and as serious as mental disorders)
And yes, i sometimes fell like i want to die. And yes, i sometimes am afraid to die. And yes, I'm HUMAN!
He died too soon...

What the hell kind of nonsensical comment is that? What is heroic about stupidly doing something that is most assuredly warned AGAINST on the pills' label?
There is no doubt that the overall intelligence of the public is decreasing as people are no longer required to be responsible for their actions. The fact that millions of idiots actually believe that Bill Gates wants to give them free money out of the goodness of his heart and open emails promising the same is good evidence.
That and the results of the latest US election convince me.
Here is a great illustration from a 3rd grade teacher:
"The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade. The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest. I decided we would have an election for a class president. We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.
To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members. We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have. We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.
The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids. I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia's mother. The day arrived when they were to make their speeches. Jamie went first. He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Every one applauded. He sat down and Olivia came to the podium. Her speech was concise. She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream." She sat down. The class went wild. "Yes! Yes! We want ice cream."
She surely would say more. She did not have to. A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn't sure. Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it. She didn't know. The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ice cream. Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a land slide.
Every time Barack Obama opens his mouth he offered ice cream, and fifty percent of America reacted like nine year olds. They want ice cream. The other fifty percent know they're going to have to feed the cow."
So... before you go posting a wall of text.. err, nevermind.

Some voted world leaders are responsible for millions and thousands of cruel and painful deaths. So lets not blow this out of proportion just because one suicidal idiot made wrong decision and killed himself. Trouble free life made fluffy pussies from loads of people who complain about smallest things and don't know what real problems are (like massive deaths from cancer, war, hunger...). Do we need World War III in order to see all these events in perspective?
