The semi-annual GUI design contest, GUI Championships has begun user voting on the best entries for animated wallpapers. Animated wallpapers are quite a challenge to design properly. A good one should use little CPU, not be distracting, and still look as good as a static wallpaper. This year's entries come from around the world and the categories are most original and most usable.

Stardock has yet to release an SDK for Dynamic Dreams, and no one seems interested in Ave's version, so I fail to see how this is possible.
Stardock has been talking about Dynamic dreams for like two years, and there's still nothing.
There's just so much potential there. Hooking up with WMP and acting as a visualizer, linking in with a weather service, network or hard disk activity, etc.
I'm not a 3d programmer. The best I was able to do with Ave's was cobble together a very poorly done knockoff of Ovals. But I'm sure if more qualified people had a chance, we'd see awesome things.
