A lot of people assume that MinWin is a Microsoft effort to completely rewrite the Windows Kernel from scratch. That may be based on earlier (limited) explanations about what it does, or it may have a lot to do with people assuming, due to people's efforts with open source software, that rewriting the kernel will solve all of Windows problems. Well, Mark Russinovich, Microsoft Technical Fellow and guru of all things NT Kernel, attempts to set the record straight in a 45 minute video from Channel 9. Microsoft also explains that "it *is* indeed in Windows 7."

Microsoft Explains MinWin
From what I have seen as a Linux user, I like what I am hearing coming out of Microsoft on this new Windows 7's improved modularity.

This has already been done. And it's not a rewrite!

Well your gonna start missing out on things, flashs days really are numbered.
agreed. Silverlight's actually pretty good..
True, but it's yet another bloatware installed. I even browse with Flash turned off on Opera and use FlashBlock on FireFox.
And there's no Silverlight for Linux. [Ok, there is Moonlight, but it is not usable yet]
Why do you browse with Flash turned off? You scared that that RAM and CPU of yours might actually be used?

haha...Nero, so true. another good example is AVG 8.
Seriously though...what're you scared of?
Please don't tell me you're running 98

Nero burns CD's? Damn I use it to pick my socks in the morning with Nero Sock Chooser Deluxe.
Are you using version 7 or 8?
Nero has a free update for version 7 because the sock pattern randomizer tends to prefer socks with stripes rather than socks without.
Also, if you like using Nero Sock Chooser 7, you might be interested to know that version 8 includes Nero Outfit Catalog Pro that connects to an online database to ensure you never choose what your friends are wearing.
Me, personally, I only really use Nero Xpert Chef Express, for the tasty, tasty dinners. I wish it was a stand alone product.... *sigh*
I use flash block when I browse because of the obnoxious visuals of dumb ads. And the really asinine ads use sound.
Not sure why the person you were asking blocks flash, but that's my reason.

For me, anything that's not needed is a bloatware. And almost everything that uses Flash this days can be done with JavaScript, and JS is way faster than Flash. And Silverlight isn't too different.
And the Linux version of Flash eats a lot of CPU. Flash 10 improved a lot, but not enough.

You don't watch Por.. I mean YouTube?
I use FlashBlock too. I don't have good PC, and mostly I use Linux. BTW I have noticed that Flash is faster on Windows than it's on Linux.(?)

I can watch RedYouTube videos with FlashBlock, i just click on the play button and it loads Flash [And that's the only use for Flash that i don't have anything against]
And the Windows version of Flash Player is way better than the Linux one, for sure.

Bloat! Bloaty! Bloat! Bloat! Parrots repeat whatever they hear, but they don't know what they're saying. Bloat!
Wow... if i look at the current size and that i'l never use most of the components/features/drivers included.
