Virtual Blackberry OS on Windows Mobile revealed

Back in April 2007, Research In Motion announced plans to expand its support for Windows Mobile devices with a new software application suite.

RIM originally planned to release the virtual suite by the end of 2007 but this was delayed and the company went silent. It appears that thanks to some spy photos and a blurry video, RIM is about to release the suite. Blackberryreview.com posted photos of the suite yesterday and have followed up with a video demonstration today.

The software has been built to replace the old BlackBerry Connect. Essentially the BlackBerry OS is running as an application on Windows Mobile virtualizing the BlackBerry OS. The application suite has all the BlackBerry 4.2 OS features in it and appears to function exactly as it would on a normal Blackberry device.

Well thats a hell of a long wait looking at a white screen. /me wonders how practical that will be in the real world, although I guess you just load it once.

Usually the winmo stability and speed issues are resolved by taking out all the crappy att and other carrier stuff that they put into it.

My dad has a BB 88200 , and its OS is severely limited. I don't consider it to be a true OS like MS Mobile, Android and iPhone OS. I was hoping that RIM would make a new complete OS but I guess I was wrong.
And why would anyone want to have BB OS in WinMOb ? Most WinMob already have the BB e-mail client built in.

I'd love to have it. My BB is limited but is required for work due to having a BES server, which isn't supported on many WM phones. As this replaces BB Connect, it is a great step in the right direction

My god that took a long time to load what is, essentially, just yet another pretty front end. WinMo is FULL of those these days...

Also, does the guy with the camcorder have issues with turning the phone the right way around or something? Sheesh...
