LG Display has developed Trumotion 480Hz LCD TV Panel, the first of its kind that features a 480 refresh rate per second which virtually eliminates motion blur usually found in action movies. This is all done without sacrificing picture quality. LG Displays scanning backlight is the technology that enables a backlight to be repeatedly turned on and off to reduce motion blur. When combined with the companys 240 Hz technology, the display can refresh 480 images per second.

So it takes a 30 fps source, removes the motion blur, then forces the screen to redraw 480 times a second?

Man, technology these days is awesome.

LOL I smell sarcasm in your comment

Well if I am right, I feel that something is wrong too. I'd have to see it in real life to get an idea in fact.

Does that mean it'd consume a lot more power?

This is ridiculous. The Hz race is the new MHz race. Bigger does not always equal better.

I wonder how high we're going to get. 960 Hz? 1.92 MHz?

"The world's first MHz panel!"

dumb as hell....touting something that the human eye cant even notice...do something that to improve the technology that actually does make a difference...maybe reducing power consumption, making nice contrast levels affordable in lcds?

Motion Blur is VERY noticable on most LCD's, however some of the better models that offer 100hz refresh (the more expensive models) are normally more than good enough.

yeah i think theyre trying a different strategy when it comes to getting rid of motion blur, like instead of getting faster and faster response times, they think that maybe by only lighting the screen when the pixels are at their right colours, they can get the screen to look like it has no motion blur

but isnt this what other manufacturers are already doing?
