Today saw Apple's final MacWorld keynote provided by Phil Schiller, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing at Apple.Apple announced that this would be their final keynote and that, breaking from tradition, Steve Jobs would not attend. Only yesterday, after rumour and speculation, Apple confirmed this was due to Steve Jobs' personal health.
Product rumours centered mainly around the idea of an iPhone Nano and a new Mac Mini. It appears one company, SeeFile, put out a press release a little early yesterday confirming "New Apple Mac Mini hardware". None of these products were announced and the only new hardware was the 17" MacBook Pro.
Many were expecting hardware announcements and the general feeling from Twitter comments is that it was disappointing to say the least, especially for Apple's final keynote.
Neowin members participated in a forum thread with the latest updates from all the tech sites covering the keynote live. Both Engadget and Gizmodo provided excellent coverage too. Unfortunately, Macrumors live feed of the event has hacked with hackers posting lots of fake updates and general nonsense.
The main news from the keynote is summarised below:
- iLife 09 announced. iLife allows you to tag your photos by places or face. Auto face detection.
- iMovie 09 announced
- GarageBand 09 announced, teaches you how to play instruments.
- iWork 09 announced and shipping today
- iWork.com announced, Apple's answer to SharePoint
- 17" MacBook Pro announced, $2799 one config
- iTunes DRM free
Apple Introduces Revolutionary New Laptop With No Keyboard

Hey guys, do you miss me already?
Just as I'm leaving work. Might have to stay on, pretend I'm working and get paid overtime. :p
Thanks.
No doubt, he'll be talking the whole way through it. I wouldn't bother.
Maybe it's a cheaper Apple desktop?

"I'll buy almost anything if it's shiny and made by Apple."
"I'll buy almost anything if it's shiny and made by Apple."
"The next version with be 4oZ lighter due to no screen, wheel or hard drive." Really funny.
Only a few 100 clicks away.
"The attractive peanut farmer graded the term paper."
This happens at (almost) every single Apple event.
I will stick with Macrumorslive
Then the Macrumorslive is good for the "notes" plus pics of the stage.

No where to be seen. Ah well there's always... next year... Oh never mind.
I'll just keep waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting and...oh look - Windows 7.
"The best is yet to come." The question is how soon.
You didn't actually think that Apple would stuff everything into a non-Jobs keynote, did you?
Until . . .
I agree. I was watching the MacRumors live feed and then the Gizmodo one when MacRumors died off, waiting and waiting for the good stuff...but it never came. Kinda cheesed about iLife...I ordered my first ever MacBook yesterday, so I guess if I want the new iLife I have to pay for it.
...they disappoint us all again..?
No, until they surprise us a bit later this year.
This isn't Vista.
This isn't Vista.
With what? Bigger screens and faster processors aren't exactly "surprising". Or is it "surprising" having larger hard drive capacities? Faster video chipsets?
Hope no one throws you a surprise party, your heart might stop...
Not necessarily to the market it's targeted at.
Meaning: not you.
Meaning: not you.
And it is a good news for Steven77 since is still a rip-off, or you could say, a bad purchase.
He probably fell asleep. Much like everyone else...
If you read the popup comments, it is actually funnier then you'd think.
I also love the ending, "the sudoku killer will kill either 1, 4 or 9 victims next" lol
-yawn-
There you have it, MacWorld 2009 summarized in one word.

Same as last year's.
And iWork.com is not like SharePoint. It's an Apple service like mac.com.

Hundreds being pathetic for a billion dollar company that is.
Here's an idea: Let your photocopiers cool down and come up with an idea without relying on Microsoft.
#1 people are believing it's a real product
#2 this is an article about a keynote, of which no such bologna was ever intro'd.
God neowin, get some new frikken news posters.
#1 people are believing it's a real product
I certainly hope you're kidding.
It's an OBVIOUS joke, made even more obvious by the comments in the video.

Because the comments in the video are exactly the same sort of drivel a typical Apple fanboy would spew...?

A few people above have seemingly believed it to be real.
Great. it's a joke. This isn't a satire news site is it? I thought it was a valid news site.....
Though in all reality, Neowin has been a joke lately with the Front page news.

Did you even read the article? Did you see the clear break from the regular news to the funny yet clever jab at the Keynote?
Were you fooled and you now feel bad about it?
Neowin isn't only a valid news site, it's also a clever one. Subtle humour. Intelligent people readily perceive that.

Yeah. I was fooled.
At least I'm not a mindless Apple fanboy.
I was simply stating that a real news site wouldn't be posting satire in an "official" news posting.
By the way, it's their site, and so long as they approve, and it's only one guy bitching, I don't see a problem with it. Just because you don't approve does not mean Neowin should edit their article.
God knows if it worked that way, there wouldn't even be any news to post.
