Business 24-7 has dropped a hint that Apple may be preparing to unveil their next-gen iPhone to the public in June. In addition to the news, they have also mentioned the iPhone will become available in the United Arab Emirates in February, on the 15th. The website stated "the next version of the device, which is due out in June, will be launched in the UAE at the same time."

This news is not unexpected; both versions of Apple's iPhone have been launched around June and July, and with the growing popularity of the App Store it is expected that Apple needs to upgrade the iPhone's hardware.

There are rumors that the next iPhone will go multi-core and allow video conferencing, but aside from that, nothing is known.

As for the UAE, the only chance that region of the world has had to get an iPhone is via paying a 20% premium. Now that they are officially scheduled, it should show a rise in popularity, and Mark Davis (Programme Director for iPhone at etisalat) stated "On an average a phone is replaced here every nine months, therefore there is tremendous potential for the iPhone. The iPhone will pick up aggressively in this part of the world."

I was in dubai just last year. Its crazy that nearly every other person I knew had the iphone on them using the Etilisat Service. This is not going to be huge in the UAE, but yeah it will have some hype

Yeah, those are part of the iPod line of products. I am very excited about the next release though. I'm sure we'll get some good hints about the next iPod Touch from what the iPhone looks like.

Who would have thought the new one would be released around the same time the last 2 were. Shocking, truly shocking.

I wish they would make an upgrade from a 3G iPhone to the next generation one possible. Though it's not gonna happen, so let's just hope it won't be uber-overpriced.

O2 allowed upgrades from iphone to 3g

At what cost?
#5.2 +DrCheese on 03 Feb 2009 - 22:58
Only because the previous (1st Gen) iphone wasn't subsided by o2, rather the owner paid the full amount. Expect o2 to force you to wait out the full contract this time, or pay more than a new customer or a person in the last month of contract would.

I wonder if it will be able to copy and paste text ...

Everytime I see someone say I this I still wonder what kind of stuff they do that it's so important. Of course it could be easy to implement but probably apps work in a way that memory has to cleaned everytime.

It won't be out in June. It will be later than July 11th, so that 3G day one purchasers can upgrade.
They could very well announce it in June for a mid July release, though.

This is the reason I don't want to buy the iPhone. I buy it, then months later it is out of date by another model.

Apple should make something so much better than the iPhone, spend a year or so on it. . . :/

Or, consumers shouldn't worry about always having the latest and greatest. It isn't like when this new iPhone comes out all other iPhones will be utterly useless. I say it is your perception that needs to change, not Apple's practice.

Umm, you can't get much better than the iPhone! Camera-wise, you can do better, but everything else, it's hard to top.

How is this different from all the other cellphone manufacturers? They too release new models all the time, so this shouldn't be shocking.
#8.4 Vakerorokero on 04 Feb 2009 - 05:05
you could just get a motorola phone or the android phone, I don't see those moving in at least a year...
#9 MightyJordan on 04 Feb 2009 - 00:01
I hope this is true. I am desperate to get one this year, and if I can get my hands on a new one this year, that's a Brucie Bonus!

Yea, they better improve the battery life or they will get sued over the video conferencing feature. Kinda hard to do videos like that with a battery that lasts as long as an 18 year old in the sack.....

I totally agree. I don't care if it adds half an inch to the iPhone... I want a battery that can last a week with 3G and wifi. Time for Apple to bust out their ingenuity and make an über battery!

But... will it run Crysis??
#12 Al Mehairi on 04 Feb 2009 - 10:34
finally in the UAE!!! they have announced it in the press but without mentioning the exact date. Anyways, I will be waiting for the next iPhone generation.

Until they make it available on something other than AT&T, I'll pass.
