Microsoft are currently working hard towards the Release Candidate of Windows 7. Currently the only official build available to testers and the general public is build 7000 but we have learned that 7022 has leaked to the internet today.According to a Russian torrent site it was leaked by "friendly" Microsoft Ukraine individuals. It's not likely that the build contains any of the UAC changes Microsoft has recently promised. The build is Build 7022.winmain.090115-1850 which indicates it was built nearly a month ago. Some Microsoft employees have twittered recently that they were "installing build 7034" so the company is clearly pushing ahead with the builds ready for the upcoming Release Candidate.

Changes from build 7000 :
1. The new sidebar color that was shown in previous screenshots. See below?
2. New Paint, as we saw in previous screenshots. See below?
3. HomeGroup gets a new icon. See below?
4. IE8 updated to RC1
5. Faster search in startmenu, instant.
6. General higher stability in OS
7. New animations when moving between things in Windows Explorer
8. Desktop Gadget Gallery is the new name for Sidebar. It gets a new icon!
Btw thanks for the upload !
I access the Downloads folder more than any other.
Of course it is possible. Elements of Vista's UI were changed between the Release Candidate builds.
I agree, i submitted a feedback request to have windows basic updated and also the start button needs some adjustments.
I highly doubt it will change though, from looking at a channel 9 video, they made investments into the start button by making that glowing flare effect.
oh well!
I agree completely. I like the vista look...
I can change it, right? :pleading look:

No, they finally removed it. :/

Thank God.... The 2000 Start menu is circa 1995. It's vasty inferior to the Vista start menu.
If people would just take the time to investigate all of the features of Vista's (and subsequently Win7's) start menu they will quickly learn how vastly superior it really is. It's MUCH quicker when it comes to finding and launching applications.
Oh yeah.... It's also 100X better looking than the 9x/Me/2K Menu and 50X better than the XP menu.

3.00 GHz CPU and only scores 1.0?
3.00 GHz CPU and only scores 1.0?
The graphics card obviously lets it down. Must have been done in a virtual machine.
Typical for europeans to blame on Russians

Which should have been obvious to Lechio due to the lack of Aero in the screenshot.
Right. So you can't disable Aero if you have a fair graphics card?

typical for both to fight over stupid things.
You can, don't know why you'd want to though, loads your CPU more.
Guess it's cleared now. It's because the graphics card obviously lets it down, also because that's the result you get first time after installing ( needs a refresh to show proper values ) and because it's running on a virtual machine.
All obvious now. (y)
Yeah I noticed that, gonna have to see how that looks once I install, might take a bit of getting used to, I personally liked the one that's been in 7 since 6519.
Me too. I honestly hope this was the power of Windows7 Taskforce. Which i open a ticket and complain about the sidebar.
Now it looks MUCH BETTER!
Looks really ugly now...
Hope they change that crap again, it looked much better before.

It looks much better. The blue didn't fit in well in my opinion.
it's not allowed to publish links to warez here, so you have to find it yourself on free-torrents.org. it's the national replacement for torrents.ru, which is partially shut down by copyright owners.
how come MS are taking drivers out, for example, my nforce2 chipset isn't supported in Win7 but has a generic driver for vista
(yea i know, my nforce2 is getting old now

Probably because nvidia doesn't even support it anymore.

Not supporting is not the same as Not offering drivers. Many nVidia products are not supported by nVidia Tech support any more, doesn't mean they stop offering drivers for those hardware items.
Ideally you should have had a network driver out of the box, and get anything else you need from WU...
Thanks.

Yea, if you still need speed, maybe upgrade your system... that's my word on speed improvements... since the OS is already fast as crap.
[awaits the "don't read the article then!" comments]
I guess I just thought I saw more... maybe I'm thinking of a sticky on the front page? I don't know.
I just recall always seeing article's for every little build, I just don't follow Windows 7 that much...

There is 7 minus this one
6519.1 (x86)
6801 (x86)
6801 (x64)
6936 (x64)
6956 (x86)
7000 (x86)
7000 (x64, released hours before the public release of 7000)
Good question. I wonder if this build brings internal IE in line with the external RC build of IE.
no problem with upgrade
What? I tried that today and it wont let me upograde..
meh i wont change ,going to wait till the RC build .
not much i bugs i passed by
1- CEIP crashing windows update and installer > fixed using worked aroud
2- some UI quirk when assessing the hardware with WEI
3- small anyyoance in the network center "coinitialize has not being called" bla bla bla when trying to view network status
i am sure they are fixed by now . i will pass
Just curious...
Yeah, but when I ask for Feedback on a product I'm working on I want Feedback on the current version. Reporting bugs and such when that may very well have been fixed in current builds is silly. Feedback is fine, but who knows how many bugs have been fixed in latter builds...
* When my graphics driver was installed for 7000, it caused half of the installer screen to go black in both 7000 x64 and x86. This did not happen in 7022, and seemed fine.
* It no longer asks you to join a HomeGroup during the setup.
* After the second reboot during install, when the bootloader came up there were three options: Windows 7 (this would finish the install), Windows 7 Rollback (Not sure what this does. Possibly rolls back all changed the installer made? New, did not show in 7000), and Windows 7 x86 (my previous installation of Windows 7, normal).
Some things that I noticed right away in the actual build, running it.
* The new sidebar color that was shown in previous screenshots. See below...
* New Paint, as we saw in previous screenshots. See below...
* HomeGroup gets a new icon. See below...
* IE8 updated to RC1

Care to expand on this bud? I'm grabbing the 32bit at the moment, would love a 64bit to leak
I'm curious, how did you come to that conclusion after running it for less than an hour?
(not trying to be a jerk, legit question)

Probably because IE is at RC1, it doesn't suck as bad.
Build 7000 already installed in 20 mins for me.
Never had a problem like that with 7000.
Where are the screenshots you spoke of?
They are in the original source:
JCXP dawt net. Follow the link on the homepage.
You shouldn't be discussing warez on Neowin. If you don't have a key, then you're obviously not working at Microsoft and shouldn't have access to this build.
Never the less, I have to agree that we should not be discussing the details of the torrent here on Neowin. Do that on the Torrent sites, please.
Yeah, like that's gonna stop it's distribution. Excuse me while I chortle.
:chortle:
They are, no reason to use that bloated Adobe junk anymore.
Try out Pdf-Xchange viewer, it's even better than Foxit:

I am still running build 7000, although I did not have this issue on my laptop, I did experience on my desktop. The fix for me was to run the Cisco installer file as Administrator. Worked ever since.
1. No inbox drivers for Intel 2200BG. Downloaded drivers from Intel would lose connection so very often.
2. 3945ABG wont connect automatically most of the time. I have to manually connect it. I saw some reports of this from other users as well.
3. IE hangs.
Hopefully in the new build the IE has got better. Will try out soon
I've alwyas loved Aero and Windows 7 has improved it.
The start menu button looks great. And I find it distinguishable enough. There is a border around it, unlike any other icons you might place on the taskbar.
I'm also likening the more subtle sidebars in explorer. Let's hope they stay that way.
My fave major/minor enhancement is that you can now include the Downloads folder among the others that appear on the start menu.
