Circuit City will close all of its remaining stores on March 8th. This will mark the end of a consumer era as a major electronics chain will vanish from the retail space. Regardless of the reasoning for the closing, many have lost their jobs and consumers now have fewer shopping options for new electronic gear.It may be worth your time to stop by any of the remaining stores as anything left will surely be priced to move. Be warned that all sales are final and make sure to inspect all of your purchases before you pay for them as once you leave your stuck with it.
Circuit City has been in business for 60 years and employed thousands of people over that time span. It's a tough time to be looking for a job and we all wish every Circuit City employee the best of luck!

For a non-internet order, it's actually a great deal. + instant gratification and not having to wait 3-5 days.
you think there is a better deal?... see my post below.. amazon has a 6ft cable for 1.38, + 2.99 shipping...i paid 5.30 as opposed to 4.37.. overall though for the morons who pay $30-$100 for an hdmi cable.. $5 is a good deal
and for jerdawg: HDMI cables are the biggest scam ever!! go on amazon - you get 10 ft noname brand HDMI cable for $1 and they work just fine.
I know there is a 6 ft hdmi cable on amazon for $1.38+$2.99 for shipping but I needed one at the moment so i paid a $1 premium then having to wait... ill take the hit...

Yes, BB does this HDMI scam as well. They even do that crap with tv calibration. They will say one tv is calibrated while its really using HDMI and the uncalibrated one is on Component Video cables. I too found out about the scam and bought my cables online for cheap. Like $5 and shipping. I found a tv calibration dvd on netflix so I am getting that for free. All I had to do is buy the color filters for it.
Management makes all the difference. Personally I no longer shop at the local walmart. No matter what time a day the lines are always extremely long. I have complained to the management their on several occassions. The lines always like the day after thanksgiving sale lines but its everyday all day long. They simply refuse to open more lanes. So I stopped going there. I will gladly pay more stuff else where if it means I dont have to spend 2 hours in line.
best buy is pure s*** they rip you off and they don't know what they are talking about. i miss compusa! the cc by me was down to nothing but fixtures.
more scam crap from BB. I really dont shop at any of these stores to be to honest. I buy my groceries at the market and ride my mountain bike - screw wasting money on crap electronics hehe. That and there is always a better deal on the web. (except for my canadian friends)
dude that's like every Wal-mart in the country lol. You get ZERO customer service at Wal-mart and when you're ready to check out I hope you brought a lunch. If having only 2 lanes open is bad enough, they put the slowest cashiers in the world on the lanes who call for the CSM every 3 items scanned. Of course the CSM is nowhere to be seen and eventually somebody else comes. This is a true story but all the 17+ years I have shopped at Wal-mart, i have never seen a member of management once in any of their stores, ever.

Dunno, but WallyWorld - aka WalMart has a Phillips 6ft HDMI here in Canada for $19.99
One of the reasons I like having 2 versions of Best Buy in Canada - Best Buy Canada and Future Shop. Future Shop is owned by Best Buy and (for the most part) has some knowledgable staff and they will price match each other...
I saw a screenshot of one of the Circuit City in the US this week and was like "WOW I never knew these stores were so big!"
Here in Montreal, there's a couple of stores which sells couple of wires, 3-4 TVs, couple of alarm clocks, all kinds of batteries, ... and globally they sell cheap products. But it's good because when I can't find a thing in huge stores, I go there and they have all I want
When I saw the screenshots, they looked comparable to Best Buy and Future Shop, so it was nothing short of a small store like here.

Um it was/is called "The Source, by Circuit City"; a loose derivative of the Circuit Cities in the US; although the are for the most part converted Radio Shacks.
You're right, it's The Source by Circuit City. I mixed them up, but it's from the same owner.
your lucky theyre given a 70% discount where you live and where i live they are giving only 10% off wheres the saving in that!!!
I am pretty certain I read somewhere that this does not affect the Canadian stores.
Neowin members are a VERY credible source, I know
My family has bought everything from TVs, Camcorders, Home Theater Setups, and even vacuums throughout my lifetime from circuit city.
It's just a sad sight to see.

I know that doesn't go for every Best Buy and Circuit City, but it definitely was like that for the few that I have visited.
That's retail, get used to it. It's everywhere.
also, best buy doesn't work on Commission. I know this because when you apply for best buy, it says "sales rep. (Non- conmission)
Always preferred CC over BB. Always feel like no one wants to help you in BB and when they do, it's like they don't have a clue!
So in 1949 they where called Circuit City? Or Vaccuum Tube City?
*Just a play on words - dont take is seriously
Some of that stuff will likely end up at salvage stores like Hudson's (don't know if they have these stores outside of the southeast US edit: nope, those stores are only in Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana).
