Politico is reporting that the FBI has raided the office of Washington, D.C.'s Chief Technology Officer. The FBI has not commented on why the raid took place but said to Politico that it was part of "an ongoing investigation."Vivek Kundra was recently appointed CIO of the federal government by President Obama. Kundra had previously worked as Chief Technology Officer in for the District of Columbia, but his last day was on February 4. He was named 2008 IT Executive of the Year for his "pioneering work to drive transparency, engage citizens and lower the cost of government operations." He was appointed to the D.C. post in 2007.
Sources familiar with the raid said the FBI sent all staffers, other than senior executives, in the CTO's office home for the day.
It has not yet been indicated if Kundra is implicated in any wrong doing as a part of the search.
Updated: The Washington Post is now reporting that Yusuf Acar, an official within the CTO office, was taken into custody by the FBI on unknown charges. The Post headline indicates it was part of a federal bribery sting, but no other information has been released to verify that information. Acar was an information systems security officer within the office.

This has got to be one of the most ignorant & blatantly stupid comment I've seen yet on Neowin.
They arrested someone who has been accused of being involved in a bribery process within the highest part of the CTO's staff, and you think that - in your own words - that because of this "The FBI sux"?

What an awesome administration Obama is piecing together. One guy owes around 30k to the IRS, another just was arrested by the FBI.

It's a sad though, but the stereotypes about politicians didn't come out of nowhere. What's the alternative? It seems that anyone coming from the top position of their field (except perhaps for scientists) is not well-regarded by the public, which doesn't make Obama's selection of staff members any better than if he were to limit himself to the political pool. And the average person can't be tapped for high-up positions, either, as the public would complain that Obama was selecting incompetent people (and there's a good chance that even the chosen average person would be found to be corrupt sooner or later). It's essentially lose-lose.
As pointed out above, the appointee wasn't arrested. I was in a hurry and didn't read the complete article.

+1 , sad but basically true... nowadays you just cant 'fully' trust anyone.
but me personally i would take my chances with some average joe off the street vs your typical high up politician.... because even if they are 'incompetent' , at least there 'trying' to do good for 'the people' unlike vast majority of higher up politicians.

@Beastage - The reporter is just giving a recent history of Vivek Kundra. It's quite important that he was recently appointed by Obama. The article is not anti-Obama at all.
Please, do not even attempt to go there. This is a discussion about what the article is telling us, not about political sides/political views.

Gee, did the press do the same damn thing to the Bush administration? But now that we have Obama in the office its not ok for the press to beat on him? Also remember Clinton? He was impeached! He also had scandles so why should we be surprised that Obama has some problems?
