Uberphones is reporting that Windows Mobile 6.5 Beta has now been made available for Microsoft employees and the software will be reaching RTM soon, which means that we will actually be able to see Windows Mobile 6.5 handsets in Q3 2009. The speculation is based on the announcement of Windows Mobile 6.5 Beta program to Microsoft Employees.

Below is the rumored Windows Mobile 6.5 Roadmap which Neowin cited earlier
  • Windows Mobile 6.5 RTM in April 2009
  • First Windows Mobile 6.5 devices from cell phone makers in September 2009

With the Beta Program Schedule being announced now, it is possible that we could be getting our hands-on with Windows Mobile 6.5 devices in the third quarter of 2009 as expected.

Meanwhile check out this new ad from Windows Mobile team
(The guy throwing his phone against a building in the video is classic!)

I thought it was pretty good.

Yeah, I didn't think it was too bad either. Pretty good actually.

Wow that's actually a good ad! It's suprising how people instantly hate Microsoft.

Lets see this on TV!!

Haha, not sure about "good", but it was at least funny.
Gotta love MS making those "hip" ads and their obsession with the word "Start" due to the start menu.

Good, and majority of people in the US wouldn't know that there is a country called Croatia somewhere in Europe.

The majority of people in the US aren't aware that the world continues beyond the borders of their state.

F***!!!!!!!!!! *tosses phone at building*

This has been another episode of Apple Fanboy Mock Theatre.
Join us next time when Apple Fanboy will say: "LOLZ!"
#2.4 ]SK[ on 18 Mar 2009 - 13:45
Im no Apple fanboy... I use and support Windows systems everyday of the working week. I've only used a mac for about 5 minutes maximum in my whole IT career. I have an iPhone but hate Apple as a company as they seem to have an angle on everything in order to cash in. In other words, you couldn't be more wrong...

My first comment was meant to be a joke

Dude, that was a good one.

Don't worry, it was a decent joke, especially in light of iPhone Software 3.0.

Dam and here i am thinking the MWC build is fantastic , Seems to be getting more polished every day
#4.1 GP007 on 18 Mar 2009 - 02:29
Are there even shots of a newer build than the one we've seen back at MWC? I haven't noticed anything new posted.

There'a video of it running on the Tornado:

The Honey comb actually works well with a d-pad. That's the only thing I've seen that's notable in the video though. Too bad the guy didn't know what he was doing since he's not fluent in Chinese

Nice video.

See thats not half bad, why is the only time I will ever see that ad on this news article. They should go in with their partners (HTC et al) and advertise that stuff.

I've been using Beta 4 for a few days and I have to say I'm extremely optimistic.

The video... ugh. MS' STILL stuck in the 90s! xD
#7.1 andrewbares on 18 Mar 2009 - 04:29
That was a good video I would say.

But hey, could u give me a link for the Beta? And will it work on the T-Mobile Wing (similar to AT&T Tilt)?

Wing development is slow compared to other "new tier" devices like the Diamond (and all post-Diamond highend HTC devices, though)

XDA-Developers, HTC Herald's ROM dev section. None of the newest builds are ported, so I suggest waiting for something final before looking for cooked ones.

I reckon the ad rocks, but after using 6.5 for the last 2 days on my HD I think MS should just bring on 7 and leave 6.5 to the internal employees to play with.

I just wish that MS would allow an upgrade to current WM 6.1 users. I recently purchased the Omnia and it would be nice to have the updated version.

their will be an upgrade, granted the maker creates the rom, oh and your phone has to have a windows flag button

Um, why does it have to have a Windows Flag button.... what about the touchscreen devices with onscreen keyboards...
#11 +bob21 on 18 Mar 2009 - 03:12
Its awalys been up to the manufactures to upgrade their devices . Microsoft provides the stock rom , and the OEM includes their appications drivers and wallpaper .

Thats pretty much it , Whatever happens its going to take at least a month after the OS RTMs before your OEM releases their 6.5 ROM . Until that happens custom ROM's will have to do.
#12 Caveman-ugh on 18 Mar 2009 - 05:41
Nothing wrong with the ad, I think the guy chucking his phone away is very much a "real life" situation as people do take things out on things like phones when they get angry.
Good Ad !
#13 Luis.A on 18 Mar 2009 - 05:42
I personally liked the ad... Winmo 6.5 looks nice. I'll pass until it hits ver. 7.0 .
#14 darkmanx21 on 18 Mar 2009 - 12:48
Man..the ad is awesome. Seems MS has a new marketing team..lol. Kidding..looking forward to seeing this on tv.
#15 Shadrack on 18 Mar 2009 - 14:48
Look like a good ad to me. Probably the first ad i've seen of Windows Mobile. Microsoft is actually taking advertisement seriously, which will be good for their business. For so long they have been the "top dog" in many of these markets and haven't seemed to care too much about advertising.
#16 Adam20 on 18 Mar 2009 - 15:26
I actually think this adverts been really well thought out, if you look at the 2 girls dancing the floor is hexagonal which is just like the 6.5 menu :-)
