More Windows Mobile 7 screenshots emerge with Zune UI

Who didn't see this coming. This has to be the advancement to compete with the iPhone.

Unless Microsoft makes their own phone I don't think they care much about the iPhone. Sure it's eating away at the overall market share. But they compete on a software level so it's most likely worried about Android. I don't see the zune resemblance though. Zune looks nicer.. can't believe I just said that

The Zune Pass subscription is what will make this sucessful since people don't have much space on their phone. They could just stream music all day and not have to keep it on their phone!

Odd, absolutely no streamlining in any of those shots. They all seem like they are from a completely different product...hmm

Maybe its not fake (too early?) and it will just get cleaned up. All it is, is in time we will get more accurate info (WM7?? Have not even WM6.5 yet...jeesh)

They do all appear to be at different resolutions as well. Perhaps these shots were taken from different versions of Windows Mobile 7 (Classic, Standard, and Professional)?

Does this mean the Zune store function will be North America only then? considering I don't think the Zune store is available anywhere else? (considering the player itself is still NA only, far as I know).

EDIT: Could be they might be axing the standalone player and incorporating it into WM7 and releasing it world wide, that might be what they are up to? maybe?

I was speculating, MS aren't exactly trying to get the Zune outside North America you know and there is a whole world out there

Actually, MS *are* trying to get the Zune outside North America. The problem is, they're attempting to deliver an experience - which is the hardware device AND the Zune Marketplace powered store & subscriptions (Zune Pass). You can get Zunes outside the US (I have one here in the UK), but the Zune store isn't available. It will be launching properly in Europe in late 2009 though, and as far as MS are concerned, they want it released. But they're not going to axe the standalone player

Hey where did you get that info from? I have been waiting for a couple of years now to get the Marketplace experience in Europe (Spain in my case) so this would be extremely good news, would love the Zune pass!

lol..I dont know about you guys, but I really think this stinks.. it doesnt look great at all. Microsoft really need to revisit the drawing boards and come up with a completely new design. They are still stuck on an old crappy design logic while just updating the UI with more weird colors and cramp up shi*t. When you compare windows mobile to Apples iPhone OS, Google's Android and Palms Web OS.. those guys have really hit well with what concept a phone OS should represent and how it appeals to the user.

I agree with alot who say that Microsoft should make their own phone, but sadly, with their philosophy, that isn't going to happen anytime soon. Bill Gates and Steve Balmer are prity adamant about that.

Go back and re-design your OS Microsoft. You do such great work with most of your other applications, sad to see you guys can't come up with a simple Cell Phone OS.

Id like to see some more concepts to see where Microsoft is coming from. What I really expect from them is something new for the phone market. I dont want another Android or Iphone like OS. While I agree that there are only so many ways a phone OS can look, Microsoft has fallen off and is now playing catch up. The old windows mobile is too outdated and was once a king in this market but now it isnt.
