Microsoft recently announced that it will offer a variety of free and exclusive designer themes, color palettes and wallpapers to help users personalize their Windows phones. The latest Windows Mobile 6.5 build comes bundled with some free designer themes from top designers - Ron Arad, Vera Wang, Rock and Republic and Diane von Fürstenberg.

Fashion designer and TV personality Mizrahi, the first in a series of designers to create exclusive themes said in a Microsoft presspass event

"Phones are just as much a fashion statement as the clothes you wear, As a designer, I'm excited to team up with Microsoft to bring forth fresh and funky new ways for people to make their Windows phones a part of their personality. Cast aside your old black phone, and make this year about color and fun."

Below are the screenshots of the colourful designer themes from the latest build of Windows Mobile 6.5

Am I wrong in thinking these are actually quite ugly?

Am I wrong in thinking these are just backgrounds and not themes?

Probably.

I like the look of it, but I'm on an HTC Touch Diamond, which uses TouchFLO, so I'll never see that home screen.

Wrong...I'm running the latest beta build of 65 on my Diamond, and have that blue/yellow theme running.

Suggest you get over to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438313

After watching that video I am amazed that when you go to select a theme you get a blast from the past menu with grey buttons and un-finger friendly ways to select the content....jeeze Microsoft.

yup.. i do like what theyre trying with the new home screen, and making stuff finger friendly.. but as long as they keep older menus, which need a stylus, i'm guessing these phones will still need to keep resistive touch screens.. i hope with wm7 everything will be updated and we can move onto some new HTCs hopefully using some new capacitive touch screens.. i'm sick of pulling out a stylus on a WM touch screen phone

from the picture with the time 4:20 - HELL, MY DOG IS A BETTER DESIGNER!

Yea, the "old" menu really doesn't sit right with the current "themes" backgrounds. 15 seconds to apply it too

I think the guy in the video needs to lay off the crack a bit... Talks a bit too fast.

Some of the "themes" look ok, but the first one was UGLY.

Pictures with 4:12 and 4:22 are very nice.

I just wish I have extra money to pay for a WM phone...

If you consider those themes, let me create a few. I have some great wallpapers that could easily be called themes.

First, these are not themes, I have tested every build since the begining.

The only thing this guy does is change the wallpaper. The Chome(Spelled right) infterface has glass bottom & top bars at all times and the background is giving tints to the glass.

Now if the glass colors would tint that might be a theme. The CToday (New Chome Today Screen) glass stays the same grey tint.

And that build is older....? I am confused.

Windows mobile 6.5 is a great product and please dont think this is a theme...

And to all curious 6.5 in the past month has some build that as FAST FAST FAST.
Build 21202 is the best to date! It as fast as my iphone was and I have 3D games running and looking good as a nintendo DS

Use it and abuse 6.5 you will like it

Man after watching this video again I can def tell you guys this isnt offical nor is it new(build).

This build is probally form Jan. the icons on the honeycomb menu are small. The interface and icons are larger(DPI), only 3 icons across and look way better as everythign got new icons.

Old video, you tube probally has newer ones and the guys has no idea how to even say the names much less talk about the themes.

They arent real themes probally just packaged with what ever he downloaded.

Psssst. Smartass.

Lookup the definition of a VGA screen. Then you'll know why the icons are smaller.

And no, it looks way better with more icons then just 3 icons across.

So apparently, we're so desperate to call it something new, that we'll call a new wallpaper a "theme"?

Lame.
