In a race between CNN and Ashton Kutcher, the TV and Hollywood star, the race to see who can hit 1,000,000 Twitter followers first is over, with Ashton Kutcher as the winner in a landslide.

Ashton Kutcher was the first person to achieve 1 million Twitter followers, followed shortly by Britney Spears, and now CNN. The 140 character micro-blogging web site has been the focus of attention recently with hacking reports and business spotlights. The service offers people to stay in touch with updates of what users are doing at any moment of the day through mini updates.

Ashton Kutcher and Larry King recently had an interview to celebrate the win over CNN.

you know your career is over when your biggest accomplishment of the year is getting 1 million followers on twitter

on another note: 2 million people have just unfollowed Mr. Kutcher making him the first person on twitter to have a following of negative 1million

Yeah, because malaria is such a HUGE problem right now. We'd better get right on that! There's been, what, oh, ZERO cases of malaria in the U.S. in the last 10 years.

A C list comedic actor who happens to be Demi Moore's man. I like his politics but this sort of story is a waste of e-space.

Come on ThaCrip, he helped break the race barrier as well with the film "Guess Who" (which is still going on today).

I can't see the reason for having 1 million followers plus I doubt he follows the people back which is the main aim of twitter.
#9.1 lunamonkey on 19 Apr 2009 - 17:52
He replys back to alot of people, but correct, he doesn't follow 1 million people back, lol.
#9.2 +dead.cell on 19 Apr 2009 - 21:08
He follows Ryan Seacrest... lol.
(2 replies) #10 Kushan on 19 Apr 2009 - 17:28
Serious question, as someone who's new to the whole Twitter thing, what's so interesting about this guy? Why does he have 1,000,000 people following him?
I follow people like Stephen Fry, who I find genuinely interesting and witty, but this guy...what's the deal with him?
#10.1 excalpius on 19 Apr 2009 - 17:49
He's sleeping with Demi Moore, and...well, that's about it.
#10.2 m.keeley on 19 Apr 2009 - 19:04
Basically nothing, same as the vast majority of people on there. On the whole even "interesting" twitters tend to be pretty pointless unless something out of the ordinary is happening.

Seems the people who run the site know it a damn lot better than you.

why? because you can tweet via mobile phone while you're out. It's apparent you don't read up on things before making such claims. I go out to clubs and I have a magazine to run, and yet I can still twitter via phone or laptop, so it doesn't really constrict a person to being on a computer or stopping any social life from happening.

Twitter can be a useful tool, in times of getting your message out to people with a short amount of text, some breaking news stories come from tweets also, I'm glad celebrities are bringing awareness to this, so more people can tweet Dont you guys remember that american that was jailed in egypt, well he tweeted his way out lol http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/04/25/twitter.buck/
#16.1 m.keeley on 19 Apr 2009 - 19:00
Few and far between and even when someone has something of interest to share it's not a long term thing. The american you mention had something of interest to Twitter about for a short time then zero point.

I dunno how many times I have to say people don't use Twitter to tell others about stupid things they're doing :p Everyone who hates it seems to think that's what happens. My girlfriend was always like "wtf is the point", but she just started using it a few days ago and she loves it, so I dunno.

'e-space' LOL.. thats pretty much endless, it's not like you can waste it... 1000s and 1000s of mosqito nets got donated to malasia.. how can that possibly be a waste?

I also laugh at some of the comments questioning Ashton as an actor, so your saying if it was someone more famous you'd be interested?

Who cares who he is, what he is saying about social media is actually correct... they had a little fun that got alot of people intrested and it helped a really good cause.

Interesting show, it seems to reveal alot! For example, what the h*ll was brandi thinking when she said "oh, ok it is a black cop", What? I am sure that this was accidentally said, but it goes to show that issues exist, can't we all just get along!

Ashton is a moron, so what if he's married to that old hag Demi Moore, like she's some prize.
Ashton's personality is just like his character Kelso from "That 70's Show".

If his claim to fame other than being a hollywood actor is being the King of Twitter, then he's a Twit!

My god, that is totally beside the point of anything, why is 'who this guy is' relevant to anything??? Why would he need to use this as a claim to fame? he's already a very rich and lucky man. He was just trying to prove a point, if it was some regular person no1 would batter an eye lid... being a celebrity gives you a voice... and he used it for a good cause. Seriously, why are people so determined to shoot twitter, the situation, his followers down?

not sure if its just the geek in me or what but it seams like the more mains stream these social networks go the less useful they are I mean we have a story like this being noted in some respect when in all reality this is up their with what Paris Hilton (or enter your useless star hear) is doing it completely useless...IDK just seam like this is no longer a service for the people by the people but by the company for the company I get more follows from company CEO then any thing else now reminds me of Myspace more and more every day
