Well, this is a surprise. According to Mac|Life, the upcoming service pack for Mac OS X, dubbed 10.5.7, is due to be released on Friday. This is, as you can imagine, a rumor; Apple hasn't mentioned anything themselves, but apparently the source is within the company itself, so this could be credible.Mac OS X 10.5.7 is due to bring a whole number of fixes and improvements, in areas such as "networking, syncing and BlueTooth issues," according to the website. OS X developers were seeded the most recent build, 9J58, on April the 29th. The build only fixed issues with iChat and Safari, so it's expected that this is the final. Additionally, it's implied that this will be the last update to the 10.5 iteration of the Mac operating system until Snow Leopard, which should have some announcements regarding its development at the WWDC in June.
Sit tight until Friday, Mac users, to see if this rumor pulls through, or watch it fall flat on its face.

Watch the OS battle unfold as Windows 7 is about to be released.
+1
I obviously do because I asked it.
You have that backwards. SL will be out first, then Windows 7.
Amiga OS ftw
BeOS!
OS/2!!!
Disk Operating System for the win.
Disk Operating System for the win.
win for the Disk Operating System.
Hah, you're still supporting Windows by buying their OS unless you pirate it.
*blush*
Anyways, bootcamp (at least in mbp) is pretty tricky and will not work correctly out of box.

Mine works fine??
I would also have to say I prefer windows 7 over the current state of Mac OS.
I own both. I see flaws from both sides as well.

Any sources about that? Because Apple always leave an iteration of a system as updated as possible (10.X.8 or more) and there are still many little annoyances in Leopard that I dont think will be resolved with 10.5.7
I see that, however its strange since as far as I remember that last update for each system came before the next major system, not after.
10.5 release date: 26th October 2007
10.4.11 release date: 14th November 2007
10.4.11 release date: 14th November 2007
I stand corrected.
I own both and happy with both.
In fact, these are the platforms I must support when I program :
- Mac OS 10.4
- Mac OS 10.5
- Windows XP
- Windows Vista
- Windows 7 (I am testing on the RC)
I also develop for :
- iPhone OS v2.2
- iPhone OS v3.0 (to test compatibility)
Unsupported platform I develop for :
- Ubuntu Linux 8.10 (we will never release a software for Linux OS because my company doesn't want to invest money to test under more than 20 different distros, but it compiles, and it works, for now)
Like 6-10% for Macs and 85-90% for Windows? It pretty much represents the market share... And what does this have to do with 10.5.7 ?
Every 10.X.1 incremental is free and always has been.

How many people are sitting around trying to deicde between Windows 7 and OS X 10.6? Not many.
That would be choosing not to vote :p
Not really. There are other options.
You just can't help yourself, can you.. it's pathetic.
(Mac OS 10.5.7 is a service pack though)
Absolutely. But C_Guy is so pathetically anti-Apple, that he has to get jibes in like that whenever he can. Everyone else knows that it's the next major release of OSX, and not a service pack.
Windows 7 is wonderful, I really love it. But Snow Leopard is still my preferred.
All the changes in Windows 7 are very impressive.
You sir, made my day !
