CircuitCity lives again, or at least the name does. As of May 23 the site has gone live again offering the types of products that you would expect from the defunct mega-retailer. While the main page feels familiar the rest of the site has changed to a well-known feeling that most will be able to easily navigate.Systemax was the company who bought up the Circuit City assets including the domain name and other online related property. Not so coincidentally the same company who also bought up CompUSA's domain assets also own and run Tigerdirect.com.
Knowing this fact it becomes quite apparent that CircuitCity.com is a direct copy of CompUSA and TigerDirect. So much in fact that they use the same backend software to run all of the sites, need proof?
Try this, go to CircuitCity.com and pick any product and click add to cart. After hitting "add to cart" you can change the core address of the website and have the exact same product added to your cart on the other websites.
Also with the new site if you're having problems with a product previously bought at Circuit City they are not able to provide any help nor will they honor any warranty claims.
While Circuit City online sit may appear to be back the reality of it is that the mega-retailer that we once all knew is really gone forever. The name may have stuck around but the heart of the company is dead and has been replaced by Tiger Direct.
If you've previously purchased products from the old CircuitCity.com, then you may want to check out the new company's privacy page. They will be transferring all of the customer information from the old site to the new company, unless you opt-out. In otherwords, if you want to keep this new company from spamming your Inbox, we suggest making a trip over there right now. You have to opt-out before June 9.

If you don't shop there, how does it affect you?
You know, memory cards, alarm clocks, cables, that kind of stuff.
RadioShack is an OLD (and I mean downright *ancient*, really) electronics retailer. While they are best known for their parts business (cables, batteries, even integrated circuits; they used to sell vacuum tubes, too and still resell phonograph needles and turntable styli), they are also the home of America's widest-ranging yet least-recognized home-audio brand, OPTIMUS. (The ARCHER brand is Radio Shack's, as well.) I've purchased many an item from the Shack over the decades (everything from batteries and cables to my first cell phone, including my first component system, consisting of an OPTIMUS bookshelf tuner/integrated amp, MC-1201 speakers, and FISHER casette deck, mated with Radio Shack's old CD-3000 home/portable CD player; surprisingly, everything, including the CD player, still works). I wouldn't keep going back (let alone recommending the Shack for those impromptu cable runs) if I had a bad experience with their products. The *salesperson* problem (if that's what he was referring to) is far from unique to the Shack (in fact, I've found it common to electronics retailers in general, from Best Buy to Sears); it's why I do my own due-dilligence.
Right on brother. I dont understand why someone would have such contempt for a very useful store like that. (talking about earlier commenters) Radio Shack caries some of the oddest but useful things. Every time you are looking for things that no one else has a tiny store like radio shack has it. Their like psychics that know what you want and squize it in a small store like that talking about taking up and good use of space. Its not holding space from some better use it is the best use of space in my opinion. That is why it outlasts all the other stores. Keep going strong little friend. Circuit city was a good store too. To bad they are gone. Shame on manigement.
Circuit City Canada is gone too. Local La Source store owner told me the chain was bought by Bell Canada. Wonder if they are going to integrate them into their Espace Bell network.
