Another week and another Windows 7 leak. Last week 7137 leaked and this week it is 7201's turn. This time around the build tag is 7201.0.winmain_win7ids_sp.090601-2255 meaning this build is only 3 days old. As ever the build is available at the usual places.
Microsoft Netherlands employee Ruud de Jonge twittered "Installing Win 7 build 7201" a few moments ago to confirm the builds authenticity.
Microsoft revealed yesterday that it will sign off final RTM code in mid to late July with a general availability and release date of 22nd October for Windows 7.

Thanks to Solor for the screenshot

Anyway, nice to see it sooner already than expected.
bring back he plumber jokes, at least that was fresh in the "same old news about the well intended leak series."
you should stretch it until september at least.

damn right!!
"Most" unofficial builds are clean.
How cool would that be! Useless, but cool!

But wouldn't that be Aqua?

Make of it what you like.
No there has never been and never will be an RC2. Look at the build string it's branched development away from winmain for service pack development which is irrelevant to main build. It's most likely 7200 is RTM.
There will be NO other RC Build. It's going from RC 1 to RTM, with minor builds in between that are to go to internal people, or TAP, they'll get leaked. The next official one will be RTM.
I'm not sure if this build is that build though. It'll be distributed in June 11, according to wz.
Self called RC2? What the hell is everyone on about with RC2! Its internal build numbers all the way now until RTM, whatever the build for that may be, artificially incremented or not. Why do you think that 7201, not even the fan-rumoured "7200 will be RC2!!!" build - is another release candidate?
It's very buggy.. It send me Hardware Error on the insalation, and it happened the same to a friend. Windows 7 Build 7077 it's solid rock, but a friend said me that i must upgrade or in august i can't use it anymore.
So, even if the OS is done enough for 99% of people now, you can still expect the RTM middle to end of next month.
.. not to be said here on Neowin...
Sorry you feel that way =(
Its not a case of that he doesnt want to its just against the rules...
Yes, changes could be made to any part of the filesystem, kernel, GUI, etc. and updating could cause a lot of problems. A fresh install is the only way to truly experience the OS.
as for installing it over the current Win7 version there surely is a way.

BS. Upgrades work fine unless you are anal retentive. Not sure? Make a disk image before the upgrade as a fallback.
Your mileage may vary but it beats formatting for me. Its a risk obviously.

microsoft branched of 7100 for RC1, and 7200 towards the rtm branch 7100's were basically small fixes for rc1 to be released while 72xx continued active development and polishing etc. is how i understand it.
Thranks!
Same with this build.
Wake me up when they've released Windows 7 Service Pack 1....sigh
