Apple's World Wide Developer Conference that was hosted this morning has brought with it some rather unexpected additions; the Cupertino based company has gone ahead and refreshed it's notebook line, bringing in new models and eliminating others, all the while making things faster and cheaper. Here are the changes:

New 15" MacBook Pro announced:

Apple has introduced a new MacBook Pro, with a couple of added extras from previous models. This new one features a built-in battery, which lasts 7 hours, just like the recent 17" MacBook Pro. Not only this, but the screen has been vastly improved, and has a 60% increase in color gamut. The battery will apparently last over 1,000 charges, which is good due to the nature of which it is included in the laptop. It will not need to be replaced for over 5 years, according to Apple.

The new laptop will feature an SD card slot built in, and it has a bump in specification. You can get up to a 3.06GHz Dual Core CPU, up to 8GB of RAM, and up to 500GB 7200RPM HD or a 256GB SSD. This new laptop will start at $1,699, and ranges from that price up to $2,229.

17" MacBook Pro upgraded and MacBook Air upgraded:

This is a slight upgrade, but the 17" MacBook Pro will get a 2.8GHz CPU and a 500GB HD, all while retaining. ExpressCard Slot. The MacBook Air has seen a small upgrade, too. According to MacRumors, "prices changing to $1,499 to $1,799 -- up to 2.13GHz CPU."

13" MacBook renamed MacBook Pro:

The 13" MacBook name has been eliminated, being replaced by MacBook Pro, as well as coming with new pricing and specifications. It'll starts at $1,199, which is cheaper than the MacBook it replaces. The price will go up to $1,499 in standard configurations.

Expect all of these models to be shipping today.

Apple is so lame. All they did was rebrand their Macbook lines and called them Macbook Pros and now the Aluminum Macbooks are gone and back to plastic cases.

Any more on the MacBook Air 2?

still no HDMI? and what about BD-ROM?

What about eSATA? I bet Apple is laughing their way to the bank. First, their equipment is SUPER overpriced to begin with and then they don't even throw in newer tech (besides CPU/GPU and batteries). Didn't they just say "Microsoft is still using the same ol' tech" at WWDC today?

Apple has lost a lot of points with me. All they care about is the fame and $.

They've made statements about BD. Because of the fact that Sony owns it, they cannot easily integrate it with copyright issues that are floating around. Once they make some kind of agreement, then it will probably be implemented.

So its the OS thats the problem?! Windows based kit has blue ray now on lots of machines even though MS was competing directly with "Sony"

Sony alone does not own the rights to Blu-ray Disc.

I don't know but if the new built-in batteries star to fault Apple will be caught on fire. That really will scare people away.

The pricing change is a plus, but i wouldn't recommend them just yet.

So now it costs 200 more than my laptop, and does a whole lot less....apples at it again with their overpriced garbage

5 Years eh? Sure I mean if you want it to hold 1% of its original charge capacity, doesn't really need to be replaced.

Great another stupid system I have to throw away when the battery dies.... hey Apple, stop the integrated batteries! Some of us carrie spare ones for long trips so we dont have to recharge them!

I absolutely hate the idea of integrated batteries. I love my unibody MacBook, but never would have considered buying it if this had been implemented when I bought mine. As for HDMI, you have to buy a Mini DisplayPort->HDMI adapter in order to do that. They're not expensive (I think they're $30), but yeah, in 2009, an adapter like that really shouldn't even be necessary.

Do these new models still support Firewire?
#9.1 Galley on 09 Jun 2009 - 17:35
Yes, all MacBook Pros now support FireWire 800, which is compatible with FW 400.

all there responses here are The CLASSICAL apple bashing,
Windows trolls really does not, calm down (don't know whats driving them mad, maybe their non-satisfaction with what they are defending? maybe apple is too threatening ? maybe Microsoft inability to keep up ?
maybe because they are used to afford junk (not all pcs) and believe that they had the best quality until apple came along?! and now thats too pricy for you?! guess what, thats what quality costs!.. even if they are more expensive than the standard high quality margin would be,... its worth it..

the IDEA.. is not that narrow minded to the point that you see it just the same PC components in a shiny overpriced package!! (I won't explain it.. because if you really care to know you would research that honestly yourself than just bashing!..

Macs works, entirely different that what PCs approach is. from a hardware point (as you can easily connect your harddrive to someone else's mac and boot it without installing drivers.. even if the specifications of the two systems are different or has different Peripherals or components cards!, excluding some Mac Pro third Party Expansion cards that require driver installations).. thats of-course regardless of that every piece of software or whatever are completely supported and compatible and trouble free, as if you had a game console and buying games and peripherals for it.., you are sure that games will work and won't be slow.. and its perfect for the console, and that would be it for any upcoming game that will be released for that console.. try imaging that with macs as they are consoles and its software and peripherals are like its games.. (of course excluding the ppc, and any big transition that could come up in the future)

as from an OS point of view, I cannot really compare OSX to windows. it would be unfair for both of them
bit i can say (and i've been using both from a long time) that OSX beats windows hands down when it comes to convenience!! ( there is alot to say here,.. but you can find that out yourself if you care)
also you cannot get that good feeling and sense of joy while using OSX from windows..
as for windows its has its strong points too, as for example being..duh. WINDOWS, and its wide software availability and some other business and professional usage domain strong points..

But as a blind fact, i see OSX as an innovative OS when it comes to how OSX works!..
I can't imagine how are you guys living with yourselves that easily when you are just denying apple innovation, or being innovative!
all you see that their products are garbage, pricy, etc... Don't you ever have something new to say? because I sense that the way here is just bashing.. and no valid arguments..
it looks like the classic arguments when atheists try to deny the existence of god, although they know that GOD is there!
so calm down..

AND I INVITE EVRY Mac USER TO STOP RESPONDING OR WRITING COMMENTS ON NEOWIN... because if thats the way windows trolls's gonna be, then lets leave them talking to themselves!

I don't say that all windows users here are that way though,.. so I hope i've not offended everyone!..
thanks.
