With the introduction of Bing just recently, from Microsoft, many have been wondering about the results it gives, and how they compare to others such as Google or Yahoo!. Some people prefer Google for the simplicity (and the habit of using it), others prefer Bing for the added features and extra information it can provide, and the rest prefer Yahoo!... well, the rest just prefer Yahoo!.An employee of Microsoft has set out to see which of the three companies truly gives the best results, with a handy website called Blind Search. The purpose of this website is for you to enter your search query, and it will provide you three different columns of results. You then choose the one which you think is the most appropriate for your needs, and once you've done that, the vote will be added to the international counter on the website, and your choice will be revealed.
This is a great little test (though, be warned, it's still in "very very beta") to see which users really prefer. Of course, this is all based on personal preference, and even so, if one search engine provides better results, you may still wish to use others for the features, etc. It's interesting to see the votes, so go ahead and try it out, and post back here on which you find yourself choosing the most!
[Update]: You will not be able to see the percentage of votes currently, as the owner of the website has posted the following message: "Some douche is gaming the system, I've removed the ability to see the results until I sort this out. Meanwhile you can still have fun playing with blind search. Feel free to blame the douche for ruining it for everybody. Meanwhile, I wouldn't take this a scientific whats-e-ma-jing, it's just a bit of observational fun."

Same for me! Still...
I've tryed Bing for a couple of times, but I will remain to Google. After years of using it, typing Google's adress is in my reflex.
tried three times got Bing, Yahoo then Google. o_O
+1 for google
I forget where I read it, but someone put it nicely that in typical MS fashion, they took something that is simple and basic from an end-user perspective, and in trying to make it more "user friendly" all they achieved is making it far more complex and convoluted.
They all do a fine job when you type in something that you would arguably not even need to search for and would know exactly where to find in this day and age of the internet, and the only reason you searched for it is because it was easier for you to type in half a word and click the mouse 3 times (once to search, once for the "Did you mean..." and once for the actual result) than it would have been to type in a fully formed URL and navigate through whatever site's menu system or own search.
Examples would be the definition of a word (answers.com, dictionary.com), a list of movies with a certain star (IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes) or a news item (CNN, BBC).
But when you type in something that you genuinely would not find otherwise, such as the contact details of an old high school friend that is not on Facebook, not on Twitter and basically is not indexed anywhere online other than one entry they made to the guest book of somebody's Geocities page in 2001, Google consistently finds that information better than the rest.
Go Google.
Bing has many more improvements over Google and the relevancy of Bing is better than Google, for me.
Did you test it, using Blind Search?
While it generally gave me more results than Yahoo, it still gave me fewer matches on obscure searches than Google and there were certain queries that it literally could not find a single result for, while Google had several matches.
Case and point: My friend's Xfire username. Letters and numbers, not a vanilla "Lindsay Lohan News" search. Bing returned 3 matches, 2 of them YouTube links and none my friend. Yahoo returned 5 matches, last one being my friend. Google found 85 matches, first being my friend on Xfire and several next ones my friend as well, on other networks.

That said, I would say that the way that Bing displays information from the search is much better than Google. The interface for Bing is cleaner, sleeker, and frankly, easier to use. Not that Google could not remedy this quickly, but for now, Bing has the better interface.
In all, think that it is wonderful to finally have a legitimate alternative to Google. Having two competent search engines on the Internet gives the user broader access to relevant information.
Go Bing.
A search for "blind search" showed the same site Blind Search site I'm using to test as 3rd in Bing, and I didn't spot in Y! or Google.
A search for "Kroger" gave more information in Bing than the other two.
"Define sluice" shows the exact mean in the first result for Bing, and a random jumble in the other 2.
So I'm voting for Bing
Bing's not perfect of course. It doesn't catch "on10" at all right, among some others. But I guess I like the way Bing phrases its results so I don't have to bother going into the site if I'm looking for a certain trivia.
Google cant even analyze "Neown" to "Neowin" :-)
2) Bing
3) Yahoo
6 searches, I selected each engine twice. My first 3 selections are based on my exam topics. My selection criteria is based on how repetitive (anything with Wikipedia and ask.com at the same time is shot), how many ads are there and just general reputation of the results.
Is amusing though that one of the results with Yahoo is found by Google. Then a Google result is found by Bing.
PS: Of course, if I'm properly doing research, I would be more likely to use something like Google Scholar.
PSS: Did one more, Yahoo was really terrible in this one. Bing was by far the best. I searched "Spurs", Yahoo gave me nothing but San Antonio bar one. While Bing gave me some different results before going down the SA line. Google was really random and gave something on abortion. Guess Google is more diverse, Bing is more precise whilst Yahoo may be best in getting something very popular.
Google FTW (for most other tasks!
I'm shocked Yahoo! seems to be better than Google, for me and a lot of people. I am glad that Bing beat them both, for me, though.
I just hope everyone can really test it unbiasedly, as I am sick of people jumping on the bandwagon, stating "Google has the best results, ya can't beat it". For some, it may, but for a lot of people, it really doesn't and many out there don't know / haven't compared, they're just saying that because they are used to Google and assume it has the best results because they use it exclusively.
Bing: 0
Google: 2
Yahoo!: 3
I was surprised that Yahoo! did as well for me as it did. If it wasn't for Yahoo!'s homepage having way too much on it, I would use Yahoo! more often. I just prefer Google's simple layout. Bing is not bad, huge improvement over Live, but think I'll stick with Google for now.
http://search.yahoo.com/
Most people use Google because they're a household name, simple. Even my technologically incompetent brother knows about Google; he's never heard of Bing or Yahoo! though.

Dont compare religion with search engines
Why not?
I found my self going back to google in the end, i think the more we search on bing the more it will grow.
2)Yahoo! (better search then Bing but gives me useless features)
2)Bing (Poor search but has some handy features)
GOOGLE IS WIN AND ALWAYS WILL BE.

But searching for a Track Mania team, Bing and Google brought up the old forums we no longer use, although Google did bring up the current ones as well. Yahoo did best on this one, showing the current forums only in results.
Maybe it's time for metacrawler again.
bing is supposed to be the very intelligent engine.. but try this..
i think giving the search engine points on things which are really easy to find is really stupid. we need to look for things we cant easily locate on the web. thats the true test of the search engine`s power.
i just searched my own name and google being the "dumb" engine.. gave me exactly what anyone would need.. my face book profile. well i know thats nothing too great.. but when u are looking for someone facebook is someplace u could find out something about them.
compared to google .. the " intelligent " bing result was.. some random forum post which i had made way back in 2006 about something related to windows.. some troubleshooting issue. lmao.. should have guessed that Intelligent has to involve Microsoft in it.
Both Google and Yahoo! gave results from the more popular and mainstream gaming sites near the top (Gamespot, IGN, 1up, etc.), while Bing only included those types of sites in 3 of the listings. The rest of the listings were for smaller blogs and cheat code sites.
In my opinion, the results from Google and Yahoo! were more relevant in terms of the information I was looking for, though Google was the best in my opinion. That's why it's still my default search engine.
2) Bing
3) Yahoo
4) sexsearch
then bing would be the top for free online porn viewing.
6 wins for google
3 wins for yahoo
1 win for bing ...
Bing shows our Neowin in the first result :-)
Both true and false.
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=neown ... Neowin doesn't show for me, except with the results we're now tainting it with.
http://www.google.com/search?q=neown ... Neowin shows for me.
However, I'm pretty sure this would be considered trinary distribution, since I'm given 3 choices.
I have used many search engines and always find Google's links to be more relevant.. especially when troubleshooting errors in hardware/software...
Looks like Google will be king for some time still...
3 I considered a wash (tie)
3 Wins for Bing
2 Wins for Goggle
1 Win for Yahoo
Read i'm a MS employee and to my great surprise Bing is not winning so as asked by my boss i remove the ability to see the score until i can manually change it so Bing wins.
The guy works for Microsoft ...
End of discussion.
End of discussion.
Good to see an open minded consumer. Of course, since Goggle was the least successful in MY test I guess the discussion isn't over for everyone. *UPDATE* sorry it was the 2nd most successful from my previous post however I have since done more testing and yahoo and bing are currently tied with google dragging up the rear.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
