Facebook recently moved into new headquarters at a building formerly owned by HP in California, USA.

The team over at TechCrunch were lucky enough to get a glimpse of the new working environment. The new headquarters is located at Palo Alto, California. The company used to base its HQ across a collection of buildings which housed 1,000 employees. As Facebook has grown, the need for a campus has increased and all employees have now moved to the new base named "the bunker" by Facebook workers.

The HQ is 150,000 square feet and is a building that used to be owned by HP and used as a lab. The layout is much more open for employees, allowing them to see who they work with easily. Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's founder and CEO, was recently interviewed by Robert Scoble where he described Facebook's "bunker" as "a lot of energy...really cool". According to Zuckerberg it's the first time Facebook have had the whole company together in one place for two and a half years.

I noticed that too, random.

EDIT: Also is that some MacVIM/emacs I see? Props; a lot of newer devs are too scared for it.

Damn kids and their "intuitive" UIs. In my day we had to program without 1's!

(FYI: I use vim daily, so don't attempt an ad hominem.)

WHat's with the Subject to search posting up there?
I use to have one of those chairs at my old work place it was a comfortable chair hehe.
Anyway, Facebook has been growing really fast and making nice improvements to the website and they are increasingly getting more traffic even though I am not an avid user of the site. I read an article recently showing that they recently surpassed YouTube in traffic making it one of the 3rd top web property in relationship to web traffic behind only Google and Yahoo.

Go look at the job listings on facebook, it's a big business. They've got MASSES of data to process, as well as a need to store a heck of a lot of data.

Maybe I have just spent too much time on my current contract... but that looks like a really clean cabling job for such a unique situation -- props to whoever did the install.

Somehow I don't think the boss will worry if they're sitting on Facebook all day.

That's cool and all, but someone tell them to FIX THE STUPID iPHONE app already! iPhone 3.0 has effectively broken the stupid thing. Can't see posts or comments at all anymore. It's needed a overhaul since the "new" facebook went live a couple of months ago.
#14.1 MadDog on 16 Jun 2009 - 17:36
Perhaps they will release an update when, I don't know, 3.0 is officially released?

#15.2 MadDog on 16 Jun 2009 - 17:37
