Microsoft introduces Apple-like tours of Windows 7
Microsoft has introduced some product tours of Windows 7 in action, similar to Apple's guided tours.
Long Zheng spotted them on Microsoft's Windows 7 site as the company ramps up it's marketing of Windows 7.
In all of the videos, Latika Kirtane, product manager for Internet Explorer, stars once again. According to Zheng, Kirtane was the star of Microsoft's infamous Songsmith marketing video. The Windows 7 videos have a similar feel to those that Apple uses every time it has a new product to demonstrate. They are both informative and knowledgeable but do not come across as purely just marketing.
There are 4 videos currently published which we have included below, they are a good hint at Microsoft's marketing plans for Windows 7.

"Apple-like"? How come everything that Microsoft does is claimed to be "Apple-like?"
Simon - 29 June 2009 - 16:00
Because it gives people something to relate to.

I knew someone would ask why they are Apple-like but if you can't see that then maybe you need to watch them both....
FoxieFoxie - 29 June 2009 - 16:20
Why? Is this exam or news site?
kheldorin - 29 June 2009 - 16:31
It's hard to relate when many haven't gone through the Apple tour.

"You asked, and we listened" and That was in just the first 15 seconds.

See nothing related to AAPL

I can't really see much similarity beyond the fact they are both demos of an operating system - it's not like they copied Apple.

See nothing related to AAPL
Jesus Christ. You people need to stop taking these things soooo seriously, and stop looking for some deeper meaning behind the choice of words when there clearly isn't one. Describing something as "Apple-like" in the tech world is much more effective than calling something "EQuanimity Holiday Bookings-like", isn't it?
FoxieFoxie - 29 June 2009 - 19:36
If you are writing for ww audience, then no.
+what - 29 June 2009 - 20:33
But Neowin isn't...
Dashel - 29 June 2009 - 21:44
Without a point of comparision, I'm not seeing it. Links?
+Chicane-UK - 29 June 2009 - 21:50
No. The Neowin audience primarily consists of 14 year old Microsoft fanboys who back into a corner and start frothing at the mouth as soon as someone posts something complimentary or even vaguely positive about Apple products. Unfortunately.
