Microsoft on Tuesday will issue six security bulletins for patch Tuesday reports PC Magazine.

Among these bulletins will be a DirectShow vulnerability issued in May, and possibly a zero-day vulnerability that was discovered this week.

As stated in an advanced warning in a Microsoft blog, three of these bulletins affect Windows. The other 3 affect a vulnerability in Publisher 2007, one in ISA (Internet Security and Acceleration) Server 2006, and one in several current versions of Virtual PC and Virtual server.

An update will also be out for Malicious Software Removal Tool and the Windows Mail junk filter. There will also be an update for Windows Vista that should fix intermittent failures experienced by users that have a Bluetooth radio connected to a USB 2.0 hub.

We've previously reported about a serious Internet Explorer exploit that was discovered this week. There is still no update on a patch to fix it, and as stated in the report, a patch could take months to be ready. Meanwhile, users of both Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 can enable or disable a temporary workaround.

Indeed. I'm not a Windows user, but patches and updates are always good.

Only XP and 2003 users are affected. And then XP users keep saying that they feel no need to upgrade...sigh

Seems like Microsoft may be deliberately slow in patching to "encourage" people to buy an upgrade. They are committed to security fixes, but seem a bit sluggish on this one, eh?

I don't personally find a point to upgrade yet, though, once Windows 7 comes out, I'll upgrade to that. And I don't use IE either =P

I don't use IE very often, but I would certainly make sure it's upgraded just in case.

I won't upgrade, don't see the point. XP does everything I need. Big waste of money. Just as there is no reason to upgrade my hardware, my 2 year old computer does everything I need, and new ones aren't noticeably faster.

Isn't it zero-day only on the 0th day?
