Blackberry Desktop Manager software coming to Mac soon

The Official Blackberry Blog has announced that Blackberry manufacturers, Research in Motion, will be releasing a Mac version of their Desktop Manager software.

Key features of the application will include:

Sync your iTunes® playlists, calendars, contacts, notes and tasks
Add/Remove applications
Update your device when new software becomes available
Backup and restore your device data with such features like automatically scheduled backups and optional encryption (security is #1 as always…)
Manage multiple devices
Support for Mac® OS 10.5.5 and above.

There is no set release date for the software but you can check out www.blackberry.com/mac and sign up to get notified when the software is available.

LOL! That's hilarious. The mac fanboys finally get to use Blackberry's (unless they worked at a company with a BES box ).

"Sync your iTunes" ? Didn't apple just blocked all non-apple devices from syncing with itunes ?

No, they blocked devices from pretending to be iPods to appear in iTunes. The iTunes Library is an open XML file that any developer can access.

What they mean is "Sync your iTunes library" not actually use iTunes to sync with the phone.

I've been using Missing Sync since October, it's been working perfectly with my Mac and my Curve 8320.

I've had both (Mac & Blackberry) for years now and no problems. As a matter of fact I've been syncing between my Mac and Win machines for years. Nice to see RIM coming out with proper software though. It's about bloody time.

EDIT- I don't know what it might have over Missing Sync, although on the Storm, Missing Sync requires an app to be running all the time (using proc cycles and battery power) in order to sync, not cool. So on second thought, this will be worth a look.
