Ever wondered what Bill Gates' Facebook really looks like? This week, reports have surfaced that Bill Gates stopped using Facebook because too many people wanted to add him as a friend. Gates told an audience in New Delhi he had tried out Facebook but ended up with "10,000 people wanting to be my friends". According to Gates he had trouble figuring out who was a real friend and who was not, "It was just way too much trouble so I gave it up," Gates told the business forum.
Over the years that Facebook has been operating there have been many parody and fake screen shots of Bill's Facebook pages but Neowin can reveal Gates' true Facebook page today.
Gates lists his favourite activities as "Tennis, Bridge, Reading, Movies" and is interested in "Science, Health, Philanthropy, Software, Neuroscience, Energy". Gates also lists his Education and work history, noting he attended Harvard in 1977 to study Mathematics and Lakeside School in 1973. Gates has a small 112 friends who he accepted onto his account before 10,000 people tried to add him as a friend. Some are less than genuine as can be seen in the wall posts below, but fellow Microsoft workers Steven Sinofsky, Ray Ozzie and Charlie Kindel are all listed as friends. Gates is also a member of the Just for fun (JFF), 2.4 Million strong group for general discussion and Invite all! groups on Facebook.

Except he spelled Asimov wrong. :pinch:
I love Asimov's books!
I love Asimov's books!
Difficult to say it is wrong since he is Russian and this Asimov i more Z.

Not when Isaac, himself, spelled it "Asimov".
Either he's pretty bad at spelling, or he only added the books for prestige reasons and never actually read them, and thus doesn't know how to spell the author's names.
lol
I'd buy that for a dollar.
Thanks for the tip
I've added him as a friend but he will only reject me

Well he says he's stopped using Facebook, so it will probably stay as pending...
Lol, yeah, I saw that as well.
Interesting thing is that he is totally predictable, I mean I found nothing that surprised me. Imagine if you found "1984" or "Brave new world" in his "favorite books" or "Britney Spears" and "Slayer" in his favorite music. That would actually have been surprising.
Sometimes it shocks me how one-dimensional some people can be.
And apparently, he is incapable of just ignoring the incoming requests and found them disturbing enough to just stop using Facebook.
Either that, or he just plain didn't like Facebook for other reasons, and the number of friend requests was one reason he cited.

Did you read the article? He had a hard time figuring out who was friend and who was foe.
It seems he wasn't really a big fan of Facebook anyway... his profile was comparatively empty/inactive...

Yes.
His solution would be to ignore everyone, and find the people he wants and add them.
Or, here's a kicker. The people who know him would know his real email address, and could request that way.
He just tried to look at all the 10,000 incoming requests and process them himself. No wonder he found it flummoxing!
Heck, I have problems figuring out whether I genuinely know someone or not.
The worst thing about Facebook is that you can't rely on the links between people to screen out people that are posing as people you know. Every friend that you have is a potential vector for someone posing as a friend to appear to be your friend by being accepted as a friend by someone else.
Facebook needs keysigning parties.
Now that made me laugh out loud, in real life.
cancelled mine months ago, do people really need a thousand friends which of which 99% they will never meet?
i also wonder when he said 'Thomas Crown Affair' if he was referring to the original ( 1968 ) (6/10) or the remake ( 1999 ) (9/10) ? ... because it don't really say. but me personally i liked the remake over the original by quite a bit.
The Unbearable Lightness of Being ( 1988 ) (6/10) ... the overall film itself i am not a big fan of (i just seen it for the first time within the last year or so) ... as the primary reason i seen it in the first place was for Lena Olin since she's attractive
Apocalypse Now ( 1979 ) (8/10) was also pretty good and so is The Deer Hunter ( 1978 ) (7/10)
p.s. he must not have seen to many movies is my guess if the ones he listed is his favorites because SURELY if he was a movie fan there would be more films listed than that... because im a movie fan myself i could at least list 50-100 films that i would consider quite good. (i watch alot of movies as it's one of the topics i got a high interest in in general
i just think the chemistry between Brosnan/Russo was much better vs McQueen/Dunaway, which is one of the bigger reasons the remake is better in my eyes but even the 'overall film' i think the remake is clearly better in my opinion.
i guess it depends on what generation your from maybe? ... because all the older generation (people maybe 40+ years old?) will probably like the original where as if your semi young i would guess that you will like the remake? ... i am almost 30 years old (in a little less than 3 months ill be 30) myself.
or maybe it has something to do with who you like better as a actor, be it McQueen or Brosnan? ... and while i generally like McQueen (i know he's sorta considered a legend from the old days
because McQueen i think works better in other films like 'The Getaway' etc etc where as Thomas Crown wise... i think Brosnan works better because (to me) he's naturally a smoother/suave guy who fits that role perfectly where as McQueen does not.
either way... 'all time favorite' wise, in my opinion that film would not even come into the equation (no offense) ... because there's LOTS of films i could take over the original film and still a moderate amount over the remake as far as 'all time' wise. but i can assume it's pretty much a fact that my all time list along with yours would vary quite a bit from person to person as almost no one out there would have the same 'all time' lists.
p.s. i think Steve McQueen's 'Bullitt' (196
i think 'The Getaway' (1972) (7/10) is definitely better than that and so was 'The Great Escape' (1963 (8/10) ... i think those two are probably my favorite McQueen films. (The Magnificent Seven (1960) was also all around solid to) ... so while i have not seen all of McQueen's films i seen a fair amount about 7 to be exact.

Thanks for turning it into a political thing...
For all we know he likes fox because of Family Guy...
My boss got mad at me, because he wanted me to ask him something about CD-ROM technology, which was the focus of the mag. But I wanted to catch him with something more creative.
Gates could change his privacy settings in this way and then add the people he wants on his friend list himself
Someone please tell him - it'd be a shame if he stopped using Facebook over this.
Please
I sent him a message on his Facebook account to let him know but I don't know whether he'd see it, haha.
This is definitely Bill Gates because when trying to join networks like "Microsoft", checks are in place to make sure you're legitimately affiliated with that company (company email etc)
Ok, there is..
LOL, didnt notice !
1) Bill Gates is not their real name.
2) The picture used can be easily obtained from the net, it is not a personal photo, neither their best photo.

3) The information showed can be easily obtained from the net, other can be faked (such "All Assimov"). This facebook profile lack in details, for example "Hardvard'77"
