New images of Microsoft's Zune HD has leaked, and according to the pictures shown, the Zune HD appears to be sporting black and silver color options.

We've previously reported that Microsoft confirmed that Zune HD was coming this fall, and that it was set to hit amazon in September. Microsoft plans to go international with the Zune later this year.

Amazon has listed the Zune HD, and users can sign up to be notified when it will be available. Pricing information has yet to be revealed.

Hmm which color to buy :/
#1.1 noPCtoday on 04 Aug 2009 - 20:40
I would go for the "silver" one. At least from the concept pic, it looks like a platinum texture. No gadget on earth has that kind of texture, it's simply badass.

Silver all the way
#1.3 Ridlas on 04 Aug 2009 - 20:54
Lol, I do get what you guys mean, but black also looks pretty slick and classic.

Careful, MS has been known to tie color choice to capacity with the Zunes, which unfortunately shifts the choice from which one looks best and ties it to which one you can afford/which one can hold your music.

http://www.zune.net/en-US/mp3players/default.htm

Only the 8 GB comes in blue, the 16 GB only comes in black, and for a while the 120 GB only came in black as well. Currently the 120 also only has the black back and black trim.

A while ago there was a picture showing capacities with the players, and it had the 16 GB with the black one and 32 GB with the silver one. I don't know if this is how they're tying the colors, but I hope not, since I want a black 32 GB.
#1.5 Ridlas on 04 Aug 2009 - 21:08
Either way, both of them look sexy. I'll be going with the one with less capacity as I dont need much space. So which ever color I get is fine with me. ^^

You may wanna double-check that one modernmech, on the zune originals site, you're actually capable of making a blue and red zune 120, black and red zune 80.

#1.7 ModernMech on 04 Aug 2009 - 23:55
That's true, but those cost more and represent another form of tying, in that if I want a zune originals 120 in black I can't get that. Although I remember you used to. I think maybe the originals options are affected by supply, because you also used to be able to customize flash players, but they're not up there anymore.

Anyway, my point still stands: MS doesn't have every player in every color.

Am I the only one who thinks that size differentiation is just stupid nowadays? Flash memory grows very fast. Why should I choose between 16Gb and 32Gb models when I have a fast 64Gb SDHC card? And 128Gb would be common in some months...

I'd like expandable storage too.

Now I think my ipon nano (1gen) is showing it's age. Might as well buy Zune now, I am leaning more towards silver.

Unlimited music is amazing. Once you go subscription, you never go back.

Because if you go back you lose it all.

Oh man that black is sexy
#4.1 +techbeck on 04 Aug 2009 - 21:37
Black looks cool. Hopefully they stay away from that ugly brown color.
#4.2 GP007 on 04 Aug 2009 - 22:22
Some people loved that brown color. It's something you never see used. It seems the same set of colors are always used, blue, red, black, silver, white. Maybe some green and yellow as well. I dunno, a more mix of colors would be nice as well.

This should be a rocking device!

Weren't pics of the silver one already on microsoft's website like a month ago? i just don't see how these are "leaked" when we've been seeing pics of the new zune for a while now.
#6.1 Ridlas on 04 Aug 2009 - 21:11
Agreed, its even on the Amazon page.

It's leaking that there is a black version.

We've known that there are black versions. Some of the demo units were black versions.

mark me down for black, i'm not usually one for look but, this is prob the best looking portable media player soon to be in the market
#7.1 andrewbares on 05 Aug 2009 - 04:09
I'm going silver. More distinct.
#8 shadmo on 04 Aug 2009 - 21:39
I wouldn't exactly call these "leaked" since there is a gdgt.com launch party tonight and Zune is one of the "sponsors/guests." I'm pretty sure it's all very carefully orchestrated media hype...

However, that said, I love it and hang on every strategically placed bit of information. I am just counting the days until I can get my hands on one. I'm having a difficult time deciding which I like better. In the end I want the bigger capacity, so I'll let the cards fall as they may.

#9.1 GP007 on 04 Aug 2009 - 22:23
Yeah, but for the international market, we're probably looking at something like Nov I think?

They do say "later this year."

I was planning on upgrading my iPod Classic to next gen iPod Touch (preferably 64GB), but I just might go with Zune HD (64GB?) instead. Need to see this in action first.
#10.1 andrewbares on 05 Aug 2009 - 04:11
I think they're only doing 32GB right now. I wish they had 64GB.

But I'm sure the interface will be stellar. The demo videos already have been amazing.
#10.2 epple on 06 Aug 2009 - 12:05
64G won't come until the next generation of respective player at the earliest, sadly. Too expensive still.

Everything is OKAY except "screws" which messed up the beauty of it.
#11.1 artfuldodga on 05 Aug 2009 - 00:55
nah adds a bit of ruggedness to the look
#11.2 wakers01 on 05 Aug 2009 - 01:45
Yeah, plus if you need to change the battery ever, you can actually do that. Even Li-ion loose their charge over time.

My zune 80 has bricked twice in one year, both with some sort of hard drive problem, and I don't think it's worth trying to fix it again. I'm afraid I've lost faith in the reliability of zunes as a result, especially at the premium price they are sold at.
#12.1 IndoShindo on 05 Aug 2009 - 00:37
my Zune 80 is running great been over 2 years, in fact I accidentally dropped a 30lb dumb bell on it at the gym and not even a scratch (had an invisible shield on it), still runs great and like new.
#12.2 wakers01 on 05 Aug 2009 - 01:46
As I understand it, the new ones should be all solid state (read: flash) memory, so that's an issue you shouldn't have with them.

Ugh, I hope they release Zune software to make it sync with Macs.. I would love to get my hand on one of these.
#13.1 Ridlas on 05 Aug 2009 - 00:32
TEEHEE, now you're stuck with outdated looking ipods
#13.2 wakers01 on 05 Aug 2009 - 01:47
Probably not. I bought a Mac almost 2 years ago ( I took it back, no worries ) and the guys at the store told me it didn't support DRM music of any kind except for Apple's own encrypted AAC format.

You actually think Apple won't update their line as well around September like they've done for the past few years?

Had my 80 for over two years, still working great.
