Toshiba has announced it will be launching a 64GB SDXC card, which they claim will be the world's fastest and largest SD card. The card boasts write speeds of 35MB per second and read speeds of 60MB per second, and is compliant with the latest SD memory standard. In addition to the 64GB SDXC, Toshiba also announced they would be releasing two more storage cards: a 32GB SDHC card and a 16GB SDHC card – and importantly, both offer the same speeds as the 64GB SDXC.The new cards are compliant with the new SD memory standard, version 3.00, UHS 400, which bumps up the maximum read speed to 60MB per second, and the maximum write speed to 35MB per second. In addition, the new SDXC memory card specification supports a maximum card capacity of 2TB, carrying on from the 32GB maximum capacity that the SDHC specification supports.
The 64GB SDXC card from Toshiba will be in mass production early next year, but samples should be shipped in November. The 16GB and 32GB SDHC cards won't be in mass production until next spring either, but samples will be sent out in November and December respectively.
SD cards have become more popular over the years, and are now commonly used in digital cameras, MP3 players, as well as mobile phones and some digital camcorders. Although Toshiba's first SDXC card is still months away from the shelves, with no price announced, it is surely a sign of bigger things to come in the distant future.

I wonder when they will come out?
At least not in my lifetime.
ROFL
At least not in my lifetime.
You're joking, right? We've still got a few years (Maybe 2 or 3) of just conventional shrink gains, plus we can stack layers, maybe 8 high...
We'll see 2TB in something this size.
We'll have to move away from NAND flash shortly after that, I'd guess, though.
I read this while drinking water... you owe me a new keyboard.
ROFL genius hahahaha it's right though tb NAND storage will be available I'd say next 5-7 years
Epic.
It's not his fault if he has some terminal disease and only little time left.
At least not in my lifetime.

Dont say never...it will be possible. Probably in like 20 years they will have 2tb where this topic will seem extremely small (16gb? thats TINNYY!!! lol)
Every couple of years now, it seems technology jumps very drastically. They already have the 256gb flash drive...in a couple of years that will be 2tb. Guaranteed.
That goes to lee26 as well.
2x64=128gb
2x128gb=256gb
2x256gb=512gb
2x512gb=1tb
2x1024tb=2tb
5 moore laws away (18 months), so almost 8 years.
640kb enough for anyone?
I had a Sony HD CRT that worked extremely well. Gave it to a friend. 3 years and still ticking. I have a Sony HD LCD that I love right now.
Fully agree. BluRay is junk, which is why I won't be getting any of them.
Bet they'd be fast with readyboost though
Such as mobile phones and camera's?
or is sd version 3.0 going to have its own rating system?
