Microsoft has announced, through their official "Imagine Cup New Zealand" Facebook page that the Windows 7 Professional RTM will be available on individual MSDNAA students websites on the 6th August, 2009, New Zealand Time. This means, for people in other parts of the world that Windows 7 Professional will be available on the 5th of August (this may be dependent on your country settings). The following announcement confirms that it will be released on the 6th (NZT):
Ic Nz : "Windows 7 Professional will be available on MSDNAA as of 6th August 2009, and available through ELMS on the 15th of August...."

This may also mean that all Windows 7 SKU's may appear on the Microsoft Technet site at the same time - perhaps depending yet again on what country you live in. To find out what time this is in the rest of the world, click here. There isn't long left now..
UPDATE: Apologies for the typo in the title, Microsoft has confirmed Windows 7 will not be available via Dreamspark, also via their Facebook page, in the following comment:

UPDATE #2:Microsoft has pointed out that those of you who use ELMS (The separate web portal to access MSDNAA software) won't have access until the middle of August. Those that get access directly through an admin (The IT administrator on campus) can request it now though.

Nope, different MS offerings. MSDNAA is administered by your institute, whereas for dreamspark you just have to be part of a qualifying place and you can download all the ISOs you want.
Darn, just realised. Thanks heaps...

I know, right
It doesn't make sense, I know.
Sorry, I'm actually unsure of dreamspark dates, it's actually MSDNAA, was a typo. Have emailed them though to find out
Updated. It won't be available on dreamspark.
Bummer. I hope my former college's MSDNAA's site will have it up soon. It'll be nice to have an extra copy of Windows 7.
It says so in the article. Windows 7 Professional
Zomg I r can't read.
Or is my brain working backwards
Then the software isn't licensed to you, even if it is still accessible.
Cant wait for this, seems like my degree is finally starting to pay off.

It's Windows 7 Professional?
Well according to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows...ompare-editions
Professional only excludes BitLocker. Quite why the business products always exclude the most business-centric feature of the entire package always escapes me. Guess its not classed as 'corporate level' encryption / protection

It's Windows 7 Professional?
Yeah, my bad......still plenty for me...never used Bitlocker and only speak English.
I read somewhere that you can also use your degree to get a good job.
My machine is in dire need of a reformat. Can finally get rid of Vista
And YAY for being a University Sys-Admin <3
General Availability aka you can walk in to a shop and buy it.
Its not too early, only got 18 more days before I need to activate my copy!
Technet tomorrow
When I had access to MSDNAA, my local admin had to manually add software to the site. I remember b/c I wanted server 2003 and I contacted the Admin and he was like yeah I'm adding it.
does the /en-us/ part mean I am in the USA version of MSDN?
I am in Australia and was hoping I could access Win7 at Midnight
Anyways, it isn't up yet...
If you install a version you don't have a key for ... you'll need to reinstall the correct version.
As an example, issues will only arise if you install say Ultimate, but only have a key for Professional. After the 30 days of use without the key are up, you'll need to use an Ultimate key, or reinstall professional.
