Man pins child porn accusations on pet cat

Child porn is, understandably, a very serious offense; so much so that there's an entire TV show dedicated to catching those willing to have sex with a minor, thus potentially also guilty of the first crime. As you can expect, people will do near anything to escape charges, though sometimes they end up getting themselves into worse trouble than they initially were. One such example is a 48 year old man named Keith Griffin, as NBC Miami reports, who told police that his cat was the one behind the 1000+ child porn images on his computer.

According to Griffin, he said to the cops that he would leave his computer running, and as he did so the cat would jump on the keyboard and the images would suddenly appear. According to The Register, one such incident was when, according to Griffin, he was downloading music, and upon returning from a quick trip to another room, he found "strange things" had happened to his computer. Much to his dismay, the cops didn't believe the elaborate and foolproof excuse, so now he's being held in prison on a $250,000 bail. As NBC points out, this isn't the first time that a cat has been up to shenanigans involving a keyboard.

The cat's now in the care of a relative, and probably will be for a long time, based on Griffin's excuse.

what would be hilarious, is if the family member taking care of the cat was also into child porn
imagine how that'd go

One gripe about the article...... That tv show is not out to catch people who trade child porn.... that's usually on top of what they do, but their purpose is to entrap child predators before they can do any (more) harm (now, the show itself could be seen as encouraging the behavior, but thats another topic)....

I'm just sayin, they're not out to catch people running kiddie porn rings, and if they do, it's really just luck on their part.
#15 nullie on 08 Aug 2009 - 01:23
I just wanted to point out that the TV show To Catch a Predator isn't related to catching people with chilld porn, but rather people who solicite sex with minors over the Internet. Two different ball games.
#16 Sam Symons on 08 Aug 2009 - 02:09
Very good points there, NeoSpam and nullie, I'll make a few changes

i still think 250k is too much for something you downloaded. There is always a way that certain files got onto your computer. I wonder how those "hunters" found the guy. I think some people are trying to act like internet police. Again, 250K for just pictures!? People kill people and get out for less, c`mon!

Um, what? $250K is what his bail amount has been set to, nothing more.

this is not true... if a hacker/enemy had access to you computer using a trojan or whatever they could upload images/videos without you even knowing.
#21 /- Razorfold on 08 Aug 2009 - 04:20
The 48-year-old Jensen Beach, Fla., man told cops he would leave his computer on and the cat would jump on the keyboard and just like that, the images would appear.

Wonder how much crack one would have to smoke just to come up with that and expect the cops to buy it
#22 powerade01 on 08 Aug 2009 - 04:26
Imagine if it actually is the truth....

Cat walks on keyboard, in another language types "child porn" and all these images appear.

Why is this on the front page? It really isn't that funny, just sad and lame.

Correction to the information about a TV show dedicated to catching people. There was a show.

There were over a thousand images saved on his hard drive according to the story...

So this cat downloaded over 1000 images on his computer?? To have accomplished that..this feline would have had to first type in the URL to the site, click on the image, do a right click and scroll down to save onto the computer. Oh..and I forgot..the cat would have had to choose a folder to save the image in.

And this cat would have had to do this over 1000 times.

My question would have been if I was the officer that arrested him....how would the cat have done a right click and then moved the mouse down to the save section, and with precise precision..click save. And did this over a thousand times.

Hmmmm...that cat would have to be in the guiness book of records in that event.
