Two days from now Microsoft will remove the Windows 7 Release Candidate from their website. If you want to test out Windows 7 for free, then you will need to download this before the 20th August, 2009.

Windows 7 users who are currently on the release candidate will not have to worry until March 1, 2010 and June 1, 2010 when bi-hourly shutdowns and license expiration's will begin.

Alternatively, if you want to get your hands on the final release now, Windows 7 RTM is now available to Technet Plus and MSDN subscribers. You can also get a copy of Windows 7 through your institute using MSDNAA, or, if you participated in the private beta, you will receive a free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate.

Windows 7 is due for general availability on the 22nd October, 2009.

Why would you tell us this like we care? I can get final version when it comes out in stores or buy technet. Interested much?

Wow, aren't you late...lol... the RTM (with confirmed hash) was already available weeks before it appeared on Technet or MSDN... yawn

You can't switch product keys on the RC...

I myself opted for the boxed copy...which I qualified for (got the confirm email about 3 hrs ago...it was the first come, first basis deal....)

Still using the RC on my work laptop. We have Enterprise RTM sitting about here, maybe I should reformat!
#6 LiquidSolstice on 18 Aug 2009 - 09:13
Well shoot. I have a copy of the final :X.

Oh well. If I squint hard enough I'm sure I can make the letters say RC and not RTM .
#7 Majesticmerc on 18 Aug 2009 - 11:27
I wouldn't recommend downloading the RC at this stage of the game, given that its gone RTM. There won't be any more updates for the RC, so if a major bug is found, the RC users won't see an update to fix it.

I've got my copy of the RTM gotta love technet.

Sweet, just checked my MSDNAA and I am now downloading my W7 Professional. Oddly though MS said it would be available on the 18th so I held of checking since they said that until the 18th.....logged in today and it was actually available for me since the 14th.

Oh well, off to reinstall again (probably last reinstall for awhile).

Already switched to the RTM. I never liked RCs.

same as probably most people on this site, switched to rtm and loving it
