Nokia announced today it has joined the race in bringing a new netbook to the market offering up to 12 hours of battery life with 3G ready Internet. The small, lightweight and portable mini-laptop is said to weight in at 1.25 kilograms and comes with the backing of Microsoft's Windows operating system, most likely Windows 7.

The mini-laptop or netbook will ship with WiFi-enabled ready for Internet usage. The netbook will also have an integrated A-GPS working on Ovi Maps allows for pinpoint navigation; the ultra lightweight, aluminum chassis netbook comes equipped with a 12 hour battery life for maximum usage.

The netbook is said to come with an easily accessible SD Card reader, a HDMI port for HD video out, a front facing camera for video chat, integrated Bluetooth adapter, all enclosed in the 10-inch glass HD ready display.

Nokia will also be offering its Nokia Music Store for playback of millions of tracks for on-the-go entertainment, or using the Ovi Suite to sync your mobile smartphone with the netbook.

The Nokia Booklet 3G will be announced on September 2, 2009 at the Nokia World show.

Sounds very promising (if not too promising). If they indeed manage to deliver all that then I am going to buy one.

I'm gonna buy one.... I've started to study at a new university this year. Change of university = change of computer.
#5.1 Majesticmerc on 24 Aug 2009 - 17:29
Netbooks are a fantastic tool for university. Lugging a laptop to lectures is hard, lugging a netbook to lectures is infinitely easier
#6 +Odom on 24 Aug 2009 - 17:27
I've never been into Netbooks, but this one looks really nice.
#7 Majesticmerc on 24 Aug 2009 - 17:28
That is a good looking netbook! I do hope its cheap-ish
#8 Wombatt on 24 Aug 2009 - 17:37
This looks, LUSH!!

Interesting that on the video it has a Windows Orb in classic mode of windows 7 despite the fact that in classic mode of Windows 7 it's a square box that says start with the windows logo. Maybe they changed it since RC, I dunno.

It's not in Classic. It's just the Basic theme, as far as I can tell.
#9.2 Sotcr on 24 Aug 2009 - 19:06
Yep, that's basic
#10 Digix on 24 Aug 2009 - 18:08
that looks really amazing. if price isn't too high i'll definitely be keen.
#11 Brendando on 24 Aug 2009 - 18:17
Actually looks nice. Up until now I thought all netbooks looked ugly. This is actually incredibly sexy.
#12 Medking on 24 Aug 2009 - 18:22
Oh wow. Sexy. I want one.
#13 NinjaMonkey on 24 Aug 2009 - 19:13
Looks hot

Id'e still take the EEE 1101 instead though. (if ASUS comes out with a Win7 version)
#14 dimithrak on 24 Aug 2009 - 19:39
has nokia hit the jackpot?
#15 InsaneNutter on 24 Aug 2009 - 19:56
If it has the Nvidia Ion chipset then yes!

Edit - was supposed to be a reply to the comment above.

Looks really very nice indeed... I suspect it's going to be pricey though

I like the way it looks and at 1.25kg with 12hrs of battery life, you really can't go wrong. I use my Dell Studio 1535 laptop for university and it can feel quite heavy at times. I'd much rather carry a lightweight mini-laptop than a heavy full-sized laptop. I just hope Nokia's Booklet 3G isn't too pricey.

For starters, the advertisement is seriously excellent. I hate cheesy silly ads with a passion, this is one is just classy and spot on. Other than that, as long as its not overpriced and as long as it delivers what it promises then I'm sure it'll sell massively. Gogo Nokia <3

The ad is REALLY well done. If I was still in Espoo I'd hit up some nokia building and congratulate them myself!! haha

I love the way the specs swing in to view around the Booklet. Very classy.

The bezel around the screen is seriously huge, and if that is a 10" screen, then this netbook is rather large compared to, for instance, an Acer Aspire One.

Doing some rough measurments from the pictures gives it measurments of at least 10"x6.8", but I can't really tell how thick exactly. That does put it around the same size as the AAO 10" model, but for some reason it just looks really large in the video.

Wow, what a fantastic ad. And it has windows 7 too, what a change from the usual XP you see on those little things.
#22 Faisal Islam on 25 Aug 2009 - 03:57
will it come with Windows 7?

WoW! Very Slick!
Could be a nice Netbook to go with a MacBook

Too bad it's Nokia = No non-3G Internet version
#23.1 ThomMcK on 25 Aug 2009 - 08:54
What do you mean "No non-3G Internet version"?
It has Wi-Fi b/g/n built in.

That is one of the best commercials I have seen in a long time. If I had the money I would defiantly buy one of these if they are as good as they seem to be.
#25 cerealfreak on 25 Aug 2009 - 07:13
damn sweet I was just saving up to buy a netbook too, I will now be getting this one
#26 rbadl on 25 Aug 2009 - 10:08
Wow that looks hot. I needed a new phone but I think I'd now rather a new netbook.
