Last week Neowin.net reported that Bing 2.0 was coming and would be powered by Silverlight. Microsoft has now unveiled its next version of their decision engine, Bing Visual Search. The new Visual Search, powered by Silverlight, lets users scroll through galleries of images using specific keywords.Users can browse in the visual search by products, sports, consumer electronics, famous people, entertainment, reference and many more categories. The updated search makes it easier for users to find what they are looking for through the stylish 3D flip image layout.
Bing now helps users sort through their choices by "Most popular on Bing", eliminating choices for you to help decide on what to buy. The decision engine can now help expand your search by taking your queries and turning out wider results. Bing will take queries such as "NFL Players" or "MLB Players" and locate as many results of player's images by face. Bing can also help narrow down user's queries by sorting players by position, team, salaries and more.
Bing Visual Search requires Microsoft Silverlight to be installed to use the newest version of Bing.

My guess is you don't have Silverlight installed. Works in FF for me, not in Chrome
Aye, do this.
UK user too, that's how I got to see it.
Remember that Bing has not finished rollout across all regions.
The EU has Not yet approved the Bing VisualSearch for use in Europe.
Where does it say this?
Is this a joke?
Has to be.. if not.. the EU should just stop using software, the internet and having anything dealing with products that were built in the United States!
HUH
i have silverlight installed and using safari on 10.6

Link is broken
Well, I hate to say it, but it works for me. I believe the link is fine.
If MS is trying to increase the Silverlight user base by making it a requirement for their brand spanking new search engine, then I suspect the end result is that neither is going to grow.
As for your Flash suggestion...I'd rather install Silverlight than Flash. Microsoft is taking security way more seriously than Flash. Flash is the (way more) mature product, yet how many Silverlight vulnerabilities have made the news in comparison?
Bing is doing nice job
Then it will work

Doesn't work on Opera either. Running Linux. Useless...
If it lacks features, how is it bloated, LOL?
Let me define "bloated" for you: OpenOffice.org is so bloated, that it sinks in mud.

Something can be bloated, and lack features. Or are you saying that OpenOffice has too many features?
Here, let me help you:
office 97 wasn't bloated, office 2007 is bloated.
Win 2k wasn't bloated, Visted was bloated.
No doubt I will once again be accused of being a troll, because I like some MS products, and not others.
lol, that's a funny typo, Visted.

Try this, hope it works for you.
If Only I had that when I was taking Honors Chem last year. That is AMAZING.
This seems really good to have a visual educational presentation. I might just e-mail the link to my sister who is teaching elementary school. I found the US Politician and presidents search especially cool.
Also, did anybody find it ironic that they included the top iPhone apps? Looks like Microsoft is becoming much more open.

No, this one is better:
http://www.webelements.com/
It has structure, doesn't need Silverlight, and provides far, far, better information on the elements without having to pass through yet a step in a web search to reach info on the element you were looking for. In short, you'll navigate in the element information much faster there than on Bing.
My point is that search engines are useful for some things, but sometimes dedicated pages are much better, especially for structured information. Bing tries to structure data, but an algorithm is often no match for a webmaster with a dedicated site.

I agree on some of your points. First off, a search engine probably shouldn't require a plugin to operate. Has anyone gone to this site without Silverlight installed? I didn't see any comments about that and didn't really want to go through an uninstall / reinstall... It does look nice, but I don't think it adds anything all that important to Bing. I think Bing is a great search engine without this, and can't imagine ever having a need for this (Although going through cell phones was kind of cool).
