Microsoft has begun confirming Windows 7 launch parties for hosts across the world.Neowin reported earlier this month that Microsoft is planning to offer copies of Windows 7 and party materials to those willing to hold launch parties in various countries across the world.
Lucky hosts will receive a special "Signature Edition" of Windows 7 Ultimate and a Windows 7 Party Pack which includes balloons, a must for every party. If that isn't enough then there's a lame party video that teaches you some "party tips". It reminds us of the Microsoft Songsmith marketing video.
So did you get confirmed and if so where are you holding your party?

Party may or may not happen though

Epic : D
"The Aero", a light blue colored mostly translucent drink.

Or as Apple [and their minions] would describe it: a lot of fluff with no substance. LOL
Hey, I'm in Roseville... is this an open party?!
Microsoft have always had a huge launch event, and multi million dollar ad campaigns when they release a new OS...Don't know what rock you live under, oh yeh thats right you still haven't left your parents basement.
And Vista wasn't a failure, the OS itself was great and much better than XP. It was just people like you who went around spreading fud that ruined it.
go hide under rock, caveman
Hmm considering I used the x64 version ever since day one. Please enlighten me with the so called issues you've been having?
- Performance issues? Fixed with a patch well before sp1, and if you didn't get it then sp1 fixed it.
- UAC prompts? Saw them only when installing programs and copying/deleting files from program file folders. If that still bugs you, a simple google search will give you a fix in the form of a patch.
- Driver issues? Everything of mine was detected during installing, and yes nvidias drivers did suck at first...but thats not microsofts fault. Vista supports 1000s more drivers out of box than XP ever did.
- Programs? Every program of mine has worked without an issue
So yes please tell me how was vista a bad OS? or maybe you were referring to the geico commercial...so easy even a caveman can do it...
how the actors got through it without laughing is the best part... it's just like a really really boring and rubbish meeting.. where someone bought cake!
hah
Mine's going to be in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory on the 23rd.
Nope, and MS didn't care for my country anyway.
Btw is there anything special about this"signature edition" ?

DUH... should read the WHOLE post /facepalm
More than likely
The guy that talks trash over the internet from behind the safety of a computer where he can't be touched, calling people "tools" and saying they "suck". That's just hilarious.
The host can burn a copy of their signature disc and include a little note written on a napkin explaining how to re-arm.
... please
That video (and the entire concept of the W7 party, really) is totally cheesy...but I'm getting a free copy of W7 and an excuse to have some friends over, so I'm all for it! :-)
Was a little confused; I first found out when I logged in to the site this afternoon, but when my e-mail arrived later it said I'd been named a "finalist". However, when I dug around my inbox a little more I found another message that told me I was a "confirmed host".
SO, now I have to find some friends to have a "party"
It's hard to explain, but I'll try. I honestly don't take this too seriously. But, I do have a number of friends and co-workers who are at least a little interested in Win7, and I've been really impressed with it as a product. This launch party gives me a chance to show off little of what I've learned in using Win7 since the beta, and gives us an excuse to socialize, however lame that excuse might be.
A great many of us likely first learned of these events on Neowin; I sort of consider this an unofficial Neowin get-together too.
Like it or not, this has become a minor phenomenon. I heard Leo LaPorte epxressing his desire to host one on one of his podcasts last week, and CNET's Buzz Out Loud had a good laugh about it a couple of weeks ago.
I am thinking that their servers are failing.
And take heaps of photos to upload for MS.
Brisbane, Australia.
Hoorah!
Decks, vinyl (oldskool), drink, windows 7....
Bring it on
They were missing an asian and disabled from that video, I'm disappointed.
BTW, where did everyone get the details of whats in the party pack?
I'm in the UK (Northamptonshire) and I didn't think it would actually come to anything. Then to my surprise I get confirmed as a host!
I think it's definitely going to have to be a Hallowe'en Geek themed party. Just got to think of some games (apart from the True or False quiz on the house party site). Windows Cocktails are also gonna be a must, anyone got good recipe ideas?
To be a true geekfest though I guess I would have to be the only one at my party LOL
With this signature copy and the ones I'm gonna nab at the Launch at Wembley I'm gonna have legit copies coming out of my ears :-)
The site is definitely screwed up. I have to click on My Dashboard several times before it actually works. Sometimes it says I have no scheduled events.

What were Microsoft thinking in using House Party, their website is simply not up to the job, I have contacted a few people I know at Microsoft to see if they can send me some POS for my party, I'm not to worried about the Party pack or the free copy of Windows 7.
I will send my write up and party pictures to Microsoft direct, it will be a great success as I know a quite a few people will attend but I feel a lot happier now I am in control and not the awful House Party !!!
I cant wait for my partay to bein!!!
I'm honestly not even expecting many people to show up but I explained to my friends that it's an excuse to come over for a few beers and I get a free copy of Windows out of the deal.
