24 hours after UK operator Orange announced plans to offer the iPhone in the UK, Vodafone has confirmed their intentions to offer the device in early 2010.Following the end of Apple's exclusive deal with O2 yesterday, Vodafone confirmed this morning that they plan to offer the iPhone 3G and 3Gs in the UK from early next year. Analysts are now expecting a price war between O2, Orange and Vodafone early next year as the rivals try to shave pounds off the monthly tariff costs.
Similar to Orange, Vodafone is refusing to confirm tariff prices and the exact availability date until later. Customers who are interested in the iPhone on Vodafone can register their interest on Vodafone's site.

I might jump over to Vodaphone if they do this. no roaming charges in europe as well.

I believe that ended August 31st (as a summer only offer). Hopefully it'll return though.
There's still the chance they do price fixing behind doors and end up with very similar prices. I think in other countries with more than one carrier selling the iphone, prices are mostly the same.
"A spokesperson for Vodafone said the firm was "delighted" at securing an agreement with Apple and that the phone was going to be primarily for existing Vodafone customers.
This is a different model from that adopted by O2 which used the iPhone as an incentive to attract new customers."

I guess apple is ****ed at how some carriers are handling things. In spain, telefonica retailers REFUSED to give the phone to existing customers during the first months. I went to the store, and being already a movistar customer they told me they were only selling it customers from other companies (not even new sign ups).
You misunderstand the term model, it doesn't mean product, it means a business process
As above hope they don't rebrand firmware. I bet Apple wouldn't let them though.
Technically, the iPhone has always been able to run on Orange, Vodafone, T-Mobile and O2 in the Uk.
The only network it can't support without modifications is Three.
I still think anyone considering getting an iPhone should consider the Hero, I did - and wow, what a phone, I'm glad I sent my 3GS back (2 week trial).
