As you may remember, Microsoft recently announced that a Windows 7 branded episode of Family Guy would be airing in the U.S. on November 8. In a surprise twist, Microsoft has now dropped support for the episode, meaning that it'll still be shown, but with a different sponsor. In a public statement, a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed, "we initially chose to participate in the Seth and Alex variety show based on the audience composition and creative humor of Family Guy, but after reviewing an early version of the variety show, it became clear that the content was not a fit with the Windows brand. According to Variety, Microsoft's marketing deal, including the Family Guy section, remains, despite it not being a part of the "Almost Live Comedy Show."
Strangely, however, when the deal was first announced, Gayle Troberman (a Microsoft consumer engagement & advertising general manager) stated that the way Windows 7 would be treated in the show wasn't a concern to the company. Variety noted that in the special Seth MacFarlane and Alex Borstein carried on with the usual "Family Guy" jokes, which included "riffs on deaf people, the Holocaust, feminine hygiene and incest," which lead to the dropping of sponsorship.
The Family Guy special will still be run on the evening of November 8, as we mentioned, along with the other shows on Fox, though it will have another sponsor who is yet to be named. There are no rumors yet of who that sponsor might be, but surely it'll be announced soon, as November 8 isn't far away.

There there everything will be okay. Just take a deep breath...

especially the part where they dubbed the voice telling you contact their customer support
Microsoft didn't really put out this garbage?
I dunno. I just hung out with a bunch of friends I hadn't seen in a while, drank lots of beer, stayed up until 5am, and listened to music and watched movies. Win7 is much more fun when your monitor is your living room HDTV.
Somehow I knew someone would quote my post a take the time to write down a serious reply.
That reminds me of this one time when Peter ate his food with sock puppets...

Unlikely. Groening has been an Apple fan for years.

The only time Fox has used a Mac to make a joke that was actually funny was in Family Guy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mhu9JxnVZvQ).

lol ya and then matt could use an old windows 95 commercial and rename it windows 7 since simpsons hasnt been new or funny in 10 yrs.
The typical MS decision is made from demographics and sales figures, rather than common sense or aesthetics. They were told by marketing that Family Guy was the most popular show for the demographics (dumb white guys and college age teens) so they would use it in the Win7 campaign for that particular demographic. No one at MS management had any idea what the show was or what it was about. When someone finally decided to take a look, they had a frenzied meeting immediately after to call the whole thing off.
I'm also wondering if maybe McFarlane took this as an opportunity to sneak one in on MS and the episode may have had some hidden anti-corporate subtext or something else directed as MS or Ballmer.
But really, reading the whole article before commenting is too much to ask. And let's face it, even the creator of Family Guy isn't immature enough to see any need to make anti-Microsoft jokes.

ya cause black, asian, arabic, albinos etc... people and non college teens dont watch family guy. Did you read what you typed or did you just type the first thing to come to your obviously useless brain and hope for truth??
What were they thinking anyway? Everybody knows Family Guy makes baby Jesus cry.
I could be wrong though.
IN the end Win7 is still in I think, we'll know when the ep airs on TV though.
None? Why would they go that extreme?
Maybe Microsoft didn't want to be embarrassed by Seth being a total dickhole.
I hope it'll still be aired despite Microsoft's shaky legs. They can't have researched that series very well.
p.s Im a niether a Mac fanboy or a Windows fanboy, its getting a tad boring reading comments from both Apple and Windows bashers, its starting to sound like a school playground. at the end of the day who gives a crap? it's a matter of choice.
Come on MS, show some balls
Yeah... what else was Microsoft expecting from Family Guy???
